Guest gordy1000
Alright chaps, I am trying in vain to source a bottom crank shaft pulley. My own was squeaking for a while until the inevitable happened and it flew off. My baby is sitting in the road in front of my next door neighbors house, and I have to drive past it in my bloody girlfriends clio every day!! Please help:Pling::Pling::Pling::Pling::Pling::Pling::Pling::Pling::Pling:

Guest gordy1000
Its a loud squeak from the engine. I think its the rubber on the inside of the pulley spinning round which causes it to make the noise.
caseys
Toyota have them in stock pretty handy put a thread in the wanted section. Keron may be able to help, but do you really want to buy 2nd hand on that sort of part? Yes, lovely squeak on startup... the noise as it flies apart at 3500rpm is a lot worse and pant-endangering than a little squeak. Believe Toyota part was about £205.. why scrimp? replace it and it's good for another 100k miles(ish)

I have a squeak on start up and goes away when the engine is warm... I wouldn't say that the squeak is loud but you can hear it and sounds like it's coming from the left side of the engine... Could this be the Crank pulley?? or just a pulley in need of some lubrication??
Jim_1979
My car makes a noise when cold until warmed up. I put it down to the fact that I have a chargespeed bonnet and alot of water gets in there around the belts etc. If it's all sunny outside, it doesn't make a noise. supra_si
mines doing the same although im gonna get an aux belt change first and then see if that was the problem.

The noise i have is a squeak and it's an intermittant issue, doesnt happen all the time i just hope it's not the crank pullley!
Mike M
tbh you'd be probably quicker getting one off Toyota. If you ordered one today they should have it for collection Friday morning. Unless of course a trader has one on the shelf ready to ship.
michael
I think Whifbitz hold stock of these at reasonable prices (plus VAT)

Could this be the Crank pulley?? or just a pulley in need of some lubrication?? Unfortunately, this does sound alot like mine when it went. Does it squeal under sudden acceleration or blipping the throttle? Reason being, when warm, the rubber grips better much like a tyre (I'm not sure expansion plays much of a factor here). The other cause for it to stop is if it gets stuck in an odd position momentarily, ie. off-axis. You can check this quite easily by easing the tension on the auxiliary belt and trying to move it by hand when it's cold.

It's on here somewhere.
