Jim_1979
Looking to remove the tailgate completley so I can do some work on the car. Curious as to how you go about it? anyone?
michael
I found that the easiest way is to remove it with the hinges still attached - pull the headlining down at the back of the car to reveal the 2 nuts on each side, undo these and then lift the hatch clear. Having the hinges on also makes it easier when refitting IMO, You'll need to undo the lifters too obviously.

Guest jonte_j
Also helps if you disconnect the wiring harness plugs to;) Where are these plugs? under the headliner or inside the tailgate?
Lukeyboy2k
Where are these plugs? under the headliner or inside the tailgate? Inside the tailgate. I found the one on the drivers side very easy, but I couldn't unclip the passenger side so ended up having to cut the wires before soldering them back together when replacing the tailgate.
