If so I'd be intersted to hear your thoughts, I know they are not the best tyre in the world, but for cost reasons I have fitted them to my Supra, before I report I would like to hear someone else's experiance of them. Guest Garfy Posted August 6, 2008 Share Posted August 6, 2008 (edited) I know what you are saying here, but I've always fitted Falkens in the past and they have been fine, these were a similar price. Now, the reason I'm asking this question is, my car feels strange, it grips well enough, infact I would say it has more grip than with the Falkens, but it just feels weird, vague is the best way to describe it, but, a few things have been changed on the car recently, I've uprated the brakes, lowered the back end a little (because that has always felt very light) and because the brakes now work properly (for the first time since I've owned the car) I have been pushing it more, so before I put the blame on the tyres and shell out money for replacements, I need to know that they are at fault, the thing is, the front ones have been on there for some 5 months, its only the rears I put on Monday. I'm hoping to get all the geo checked this week, maybe thats out, well it is out, because its always scrubed the inside edge of the fronts, so much so that it wears fronts out before the backs, the only thing I have noticed about these tyres is that if I place my foot on the sideway at the top of the wheel (while on the car) and push, it seems very easy to flex the sidewall, but then I never tried that on the falkens, so I have no comparison. I am tempted to throw them away and buy some falkens though, but I dont want to do that if its something else thats causing it. Guest Garfy Posted August 6, 2008 Share Posted August 6, 2008 oh, and another question, have I got the size's right? 255/35/18 rear 235/40/18 front it did have 265/35/18 on the rear before, but I went narrower because they were rubbing slightly, but I think I've made a mistake and should have got 255/40/18? Guest Garfy Posted August 6, 2008 Share Posted August 6, 2008 Not for long with those on he won't be Never skimp on tryes, too risky thats very easy to say, but when I bought the tyres I had a puncher, had just lost my job, and they were right on the legal limit, so no one would have repaired the tyre, so, it was cheap tyres or no car, I opted for cheap tyres, luckily my freind came to the rescue with a repair kit, that actually worked, but the tyres were already here by then. Ian C Posted August 6, 2008 Share Posted August 6, 2008 If you are experiencing vague handling you need to get your suspension bushes checked for terminal wear and play, a 4 wheel alignment if they are OK, and the shocks checked as well. Have you had it up on a ramp and gone at it levering like mad with a breaker bar to see if stuff moves? Guest david Posted August 6, 2008 Share Posted August 6, 2008 i have Federal 595's on they were on the car when i got it and i thought i don't want budget ones i want some good ones but i think if they are a good recognised budget Tyre they are just as good as moor expensive ones u just pay for the name yes they may be a Little better say round a track but for every day use they are fine. i have driven supras withe pirelli p zero and on every day roads cant tell the difference.i am very happy with the federal 595 and would have them again.
