DannoSupra
Ran into a bit of a problem today when cleaning up Ye Olde valve's. I was a bit wether to get new one's. But the condition of them has helped me choose. If i was keeping the enigne and turbo stock then i'de carry on and keep the old ones, but because im spending so much on the engine i dont want to risk anything. What would you guys recomend? Now OEM are out of the question at £35 Each + Vat. Im not planning on raising the rev's for a start. Any reviews with the Brian Crowler one's, or the PHR? Planning on getting new springs and retainer's too Thanks Here's a few pics of what i found today: Compared to a good one: (Some are worse and some are better) Edited August 5, 2008 by DannoSupra (see edit history)

Nic
What would you guys recomend? Now OEM are out of the question at £35 Each + Vat. I'm sure someone would be able to supply cheaper than that
Chris Wilson
What's supposed to be up with them? In an ideal world you would change the valves, caps, cotters and guides as a matter of course, but it's costly! Those valves look OK, how do they measure for stem size? So long as you aren't building some screaming race engine I would say they could well be re usable with no issues, subject to a micrometer check and a straightness check. DannoSupra
Cheers for the Advice boys... They're all straight and measure up the same. Been at them with a Vernier Just dont know what to do, so i posted up on here
JamieP
Whats with the little dent in them then? is that ok?
DannoSupra
Whats with the little dent in them then? is that ok? Thats why im a bit  could be stretched. I'll double check the lengths tomorrow with a digital vernier, cant go wrong then
Chris Wilson
A vernier is nothing like accurate enough for valve stems, you need to use a proper micrometer. They won't be stretched....

Chris Wilson
I meant for the stem diameter, not o/all length.

SimonB
Have you got the engine manual? There's a load of checks in there for checking stock valves - diameter, seat width etc etc.
