Stonkin
Hi guys, I’m going to be phoning my insurance company today for a quote on B’have’s single. I’m curious to know what others have been asked with regard to what has been done to modify their car. Will they want to know every item that has been uprated or are they happy to know it has been modified to a single turbo and is producing xxx bhp. Just curious what others have been through so im prepared before I call Cheers, Christian

Stonkin
Cheers Steve, well my old TT came to about £800, with 6 years no claims at 25. Now have 7 years no claims although i doubt that will change much and am 27. Have also been recommended to try Adrian Flux as they seem to be better these days. Will see how A-Plan get on first

SteveR
I had fun speaking to some "specialist" modified car insurers. Me: The car is extensively modified, are you sure you'll be able to quote before we go through me telling you all my details? Them: Yes, yes it's all fine I'm sure, just to be sure what sort of modifications has it got? Me: Well for starters the engine has been rebuilt, to include items such as forged pistons. Them: Errrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmm........ wh...... why? What does that do!?! Why would you do that? Me: Because it's a sensible thing to do, when modifying to the degree my car has been modified to, if you want it to be robust and reliable. Them: Erm I don't think we can help, sorry. Monkeys. I suspect they were expecting me to say "it's got wikkid skirts and massive wheels innit!"

Stonkin
hmm, well a plan want £1180 and they would refund £120 for cancelling bmw insurance if done within next week or so, obviously that drops as the weeks go by. time to try adrian flux and sky i think
SteveR
I'm with Adrian Flux. When I rang round for quotes Sky were rubbish initially but "matched" Adrian Flux's price..... apart from the agreed value bit which they told me would be another £70 on top, even though it was included in the Adrian Flux quote. They couldn't see the flaw in that logic so in the end I had one clear choice.
Stonkin
cheers Steve, just on hold with sky now, then will try adrian flux. is there a special number for imports with adrian or shall i just google them
SteveR
cheers Steve, just on hold with sky now, then will try adrian flux. is there a special number for imports with adrian or shall i just google them I think there is, but I'm with their 'cherised vehicles' dept, I guess because of the agreed value aspect more than anything? Call the general number & see where you get sent?
Stonkin
sky quoted £896 with £350 excess, didnt ask about excess with a-plan. will try AF in a bit. Getting better
Stonkin
Adrain flux want £1284 with £400 excess, i dont think so. sky it is then it seems
Rayman
Thats pretty acceptable with sky is it like for like with modifications? Is there an agreed value?
Stonkin
sky do not do agreed value anymore, but it is like for like on modifications and i have declared everything on charlie's thread. I thought it was quite good, especially as a-plan are refunding around £100 from the bmw which brings it down to about £
