Nic
Check power steering fluid level, it is either low fluid and air in the system or pump on it's way out. To bleed remove the cap and whilst stationary with the engine running turn the steering lock to lock a few times, this should get rid of any trapped air, you may need to top up fluid again after. If the fluid is low, then you may have a slight leak somewhere, check around the pump and the steering rack for leaking fluid.
Homer
Also check your crank pulley for signs of it degrading. A creaking sound when stationary is normal when the crank pulley starts to go.

gavin.starr
i didnt think that PAS was going to be something so simple i feel a bit dumb now for asking that Power Assisted Steering so simple my head must be scrambled. ill leave it until i get home from work then if i need to raise the car off the ground as i havent got any jacks at work hope it sorts the problem as its not a nice noise cheers for the help fellas gav
Guest Budz86
I have a leak in mine with the same symptoms. If you bleed the system, top up the fluid then bleed again you won't have any problems. But I would check for a leak as well. Bottom of the PS pump is common - the seals go on them. Good luck mate
