StuartW
Currently reached limitations of my GT35R so want to go next stage, As i understand it my restriction on top end HP is on my Turbine side currently having a 61mm Turbine restriction. I would guess i need around a 72mm Turbo? Are the cheap ones on eBay any good as i will not do many miles on the road as i anticipate far more un predictable lag with this type of tubbie! Anyone had any experience or can recommend apart from spending another £900+ for a new Ball bearing one. Prefer T4 flange, 3" V band 2.5" compressor outlet to marry existing build. Thanks in advance.....
JamieP
For 700bhp id go with a HKS T51 KAI BB, any cheap ebay turbo will be a waste of time imo and risk killing your engine when it falls to bits.
JustGav
GT35R Are the cheap ones on eBay any good You want to trade a GT35R for an ebay jobbie?? Rather spend the money and look a boostlogic / phr / precision option, something perhaps like the T67DBB. Or as Jamie says the HKS T51, it is a bit of an animal
bolarbag
Does the HKS T51 come with a T04 flange or V-band only at the turbine entry? Is this to mate to a stock bottom end?
uk-rich
t51's are v band, but you can get a v band to t4 adaptor plate
StuartW
Thanks for all the info looks like i need a T51, Are they supplied by Garret? I plan to run the bigger turbo for a bit this year then over winter build my head. I also think i will need to go bigger than my current 3" DP? I think i can re-size the GT35R Turbine but dont know what is the biggest size or what A/R to go for, Or even if this is a cost effective way foreward? JamieP
There was a thread on supraforum about changing from a 3" to 4" down and midpipe, how true it is i dont know but some were saying it improves spool and adds bhp from the change on there car. Cant find it now.
bolarbag
It was the same guy that tested the cams, he's known to be quite an independent tester

StuartW
I am considering the Prescision PT74mm with a 4" Downpipe and midpipe for ease of compatability and a ten second car...Any thoughts?

kylestt
Anything from a 67+ will go mid 10s without problems. Then the larger the turbo the slower the spool of course. If your going strictly drag then it probably wont matter. All are good turbos!!!
lockys96
If you want to different you could look into the new Borg Warner turbos, they do some insanely large units. how do they rate them turbo's wez? i see they have launched a mid range between gt3037 - gt3582 which claims to spool like the gt30 and make gt35 power
Wez
how do they rate them turbo's wez? i see they have launched a mid range between gt3037 - gt3582 which claims to spool like the gt30 and make gt35 power I have been looking into them for a while but the smallest I have bothered to look at is the S362 which apparently spools like a GT35r but has better flow at the top end. This is pretty remarkable since they are not DBB. The S362 and S366 are the only units that were of interest to me but until someone bites the bullet its all theory as no one has tried one in the UK yet, well not on a 2JZ-GTE anyway. lockys96
the T4 Twinscroll TS256-30R seems intersting to me. The TS256 is basically a Twinscroll T4 GT30R, but with a higher flowing compressor and turbine. This turbo fills the gap between GT30R and GT35R. Recommended for use in quick spooling 380-550+ whp applications. It uses a 7-bladed Extended-Tip compressor wheel w/ 56mm inducer & 75mm exducer rated at 58lb/min. 4" inlet compressor housing
