i got a letter from the csa yesterday demanding £5420.80p for outstanding maintenance payments for my kids, when me and the ex split i used to pay her cash on a weekly basis and was recorded in a book with her signature,

then the csa appeared and hounded me into paying through them causing untold grief, eventually i agreed and was actually paying less through them, now i used to pay the csa maintenance by direct debit and when the youngest started work (with me) i canceled the direct debit and my ex got a closing statement from the csa, in this new letter its states that they will be making attachment to my wages to recover the money:blink: failing that the bailiffs will visit:blink:

anyway i ring the csa and after going through there weird security chat, i ask wtf is going on and how do they think i owe them money to which he replied i am not sure, i said what do you mean your not sure you have sent me a threatening letter and you don,t know how i actually owe the money, so i said "send me a letter when you do" and put the phone down,

my kids by the way are 25 23 and 20

the csa is a total shambles:rolleyes:

Yep, they are, and it will take you ages to get it sorted out Gaz. Write them a letter asking for an itemised statement of when the monies they are asking for became due. I have never dealt with such as clueless bunch of people as these

I have only recently finished paying the CSA after 14 years,I understand the amount of frustration you have. The best thing to do is try to speak to someone who actually understands their own regulations many( do not). The people at first point of contact

only look at what is on the screen in front of them. You need to speak to the next level a supervisor case officer etc.

Hope you sort it soon .

When you sort it out ,ask them for a break down of all payments made, that should take them about 12 months (if you can get them to do it).

With you all on that. 2 years ago i was reassessed, it took 13 months for them to do it, they upped my payments by £160 per month, AND came after me for £2000 of arrears, even though it was their fault it took so long to do the assessment. I took them to a tribunal, which was a "show trial", had to agree to pay these arrears over 5 years, they then changed the agreement to 2 years, their idea of negotiation is "we will just take it out of your wages", you have No rights and No say over your own situation, and it`s run by a bunch of people who couldn`t find their ar*e

with both hands. Local MP was useless aswell.....Toss*rs.
