Lexus LF-A to cost around £80k?

Who have Toyota decided to compete against ? Definitely in Porsche territory, maybe Audi. Aston Martin.

Why do they have to choose who to compete with? the best way to make sales is to fill a gap in the market, maybe that's what this is.

I really like it, I hope I can afford one one day.

I took some so I thought I may as well add my pictures, the more the merrier. :)

clicky for the big piccy ;)

I like it anyway.

As a car on it's own and not compared to anything else it ticks all the boxes for me.

It's fast, it looks good and I would imagine it's comfortable.

I'd own one.

Because Gaps in the market don't tend to be very profitable, otherwise somebody will already be in it, particularly in the car industry, there isn't many niche markets left. Also carving your own market is a risky business, something i don't think Toyota does ;).

Before they started the concept they would have decided what the LFA was designed to do - luxury tourer, super car road going race car etc.

Then its a case of looking at what is already available in that area and make sure the car competes with or is better than the competition.

They did the same thing with the Supra.

This car is about two years too late.

Every sector except the really exotic stuff (LP640/Zonda/etc) has had a down turn in sales, several dealers (Pendragon for one)in the uk are on the brink of going under, BMW is cutting many dealerships, Jag is selling sweet FA and in America it's even worse- so bad GM & Ford are merging their engine R&D to cut costs. The second hand market is in free fall too.

So what to Lexus do, launch a £80-100k car. It's the XJ220 all over again.

Aside from that, it's not a GTR competitor for the same reasons the NSX didn't compete with the other Jap cars- two seats, more expensive and aimed at different customers.

I also think it'll blitz both the vette & GTR when taken to the Ring.

i hope my place sells one of these! not that ill be able to drive it ! a mate at work told me when he was down training at lexus for the is-f that the is -f will only be able to go out on test drive if a designated driver from lexus themselves are in accompany! so you can guarentee the LF-A will be the same :( superb looking car though

and he said about the is-f sounding like a f1 car so you'd have a screamer!

Its not going to be GTR territory thats for sure with a V10 producing 500bhp? Its deemed as a big cruiser - if it was a Ferrari then the 100k may be acceptable but not a lexus, 60K maybe

/broken record mode

I saw it a year ago at the 'Ring and it's FAST, believe me. Some mags have claimed it's already done a lap in 7:24, which if it's true - and I well believe it could be - is faster than the GTR. I watched it go round in 7:50 so at worst that's what I'd expect a production model to be capable of. Like Alex has said though, tracks aren't [meant to be] the natural home of a car like the LF-A.

The reason Lexus won't want to compare it with the GTR is because it's a different class of vehicle, the same as the Supra is - i.e. a GT car, not an out & out A road racer/sports car. YES it is in reality a fine line to draw and ou can argue that there isn't one, but Lexus don't want ttheir car to appeal to GTR-buyers or worse still, put-off any potential LF-A owners because they think it's Lexus' version of the GT-R; it isn't.

The sound alone is worth £80k anyway, I want one one day.

Henk's vid from last year's trip, once again, for good meaure ;)

The more I look at it the more its growing on me, the rear is still fugly but the front is very nice - especially in Silver

I can't imagine it will be long before the new L-FA bodykit for the Supra will be released:rolleyes:

I like the nosecone almost Veilside RX7 like
