Zed
Since going full de-cat a couple of weeks ago ( 2nd cat already removed about a year ago), my car simply cannot maintain traction at anything beyond medium acceleration. I'm sure the cold air temps recently haven't helped since the car will be boosting higher. So I have decided that RLTC will be the answer, can anyone else confirm similar experiences where RLTC helped ? Also, what's the price for RLTC these days and where's the best place to buy from, assuming there's an alternative to going directly to Racelogic. Anybody aware of any group buys going on in any forums ? Cheers in advance for your replies
CJ
I fitted RLTC and the difference is amazing. If you want a very good price go visit the Vortex section. They have a group buy going at the moment.
CJ
http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?p=404385#post404385 is the link to the group buy
tbourner
I wanted it for ages but now my rod building friend at work has called me a wuss and said "What's the point, YOU'RE not really driving it!!". But I still would if the price was right, fun though it is spinning in wheels in 5th at 110 on a cold evening!!
Getrag
...what tyres you running? I've got bpu mods and can use just about 100% in third up in the dry.
Zed
My current tyres are Dunlop SP 9000's, they were on the car when I bought it almost 2 years ago and I've done 10,000 miles since then and they've still got about 3-4,000 miles left, so I assume alignment etc is ok, I'm quite impressed with the longevity !! The tyres will lose traction even in a straight line when the second turbo kicks in. On a bend they will lose traction even at about 3K revs in 3rd gear. The winter road conditions make thing much worse due to the reduced grip levels on the road plus cold air providing more boost. I'm sure it looks good accelerating hard, correcting the Supra's twitchy rear end but when less powerful cars can make faster progress then steps need to be taken !! LeeT
ive just fitted rltc from vortex and i have to say its excellent. due to my car overfuelling at the moment as well it pops and bangs then takes off like a rocket with no slip at all. RedSZ
I have just swapped from Dunlop SP 9000s to Goodyear F1's. Even though there was plenty of tread on the Dunlops I was unhappy with their grip in the wet driving carefully or in the dry giving it some welly. The difference has been incredible with no loss of traction when 2nd turbo comes on now. Bin the tyres!
Zed
Cheers RedSZ, looks like F1 GSD3's need to be added to the shopping list !! Leett, did you fit RLTC yourself, this is what I'm planning to do with some help from the instructions from MKIV.com. How long did it take you, any tips and pointers would be much appreciated. I installed my AVC-R and Greddy BCC on my own so hopefully this shouldn't be too much of a problem. Cheers
Aerotop Dave
This shows how much of a ponce I am behind the wheel: I've had RLTC fitted for nearly 12 months now - it's never cut in once

Cheers yep i did it myself. took no time at all to fit. its a little bit awkward to splice into the abs wires. ive got a fields harness as well which makes things alot easier as you dont have to lie upside down in the footwell trying to solder into the injectors wires. if you buy from vortex they supply instructions telling you how to do it and along with the mkiv.com ones as well you cant really go wrong. i really dont think you'll beat vortex prices either. vortex--'dont forget my big discount on my next order'
Terminator
I wanted it for ages but now my rod building friend at work has called me a wuss and said "What's the point, YOU'RE not really driving it!!". Here we go again. Aahhh bless his little cotton socks. These guys crack me up. They will be telling us soon that having bigger brakes, LSD, lock up systems, ABS short shifters, boost controllers etc are all NOT DRIVING IT unnecessary items. I must try this on next time I am stopped by the police. It’s your car do what you want with it. When you loose it big time due to traction issues your mate will tell you can’t drive period so you cant win. This system was only developed for the race environment and none of them can drive either. I guess when I have done some crazy 0-100 WOT runs in appalling weather conditions I was not driving the car either, may be I should have stuck a brick on the throttle and watched from the verge. Until someone can convince me I am better off without RLTC it is staying in the car. Each to his own etc. I am a chilled out WUSS:limp:
tbourner
Woah, check your own avatar message!!! I'd get it if it was a bit cheaper, it's gone a bit further down my list of things to do unfortunately.
Terminator
Woah, check your own avatar message!!! I have the option turned off:) I'd get it if it was a bit cheaper, it's gone a bit further down my list of things to do unfortunately. Unfortunately a few people have said that, then when they get their second car it is the first thing they fit:(
ballsoutracing
Can second that, having lost my first TT to a third gear rear end breakaway. RLTC will have to be fitted. I read on here that there were some issues with the system, have these been ironed out yet?
CJ
The issues are with the stock TC not the RLTC
