ballsdeep
ok here goes, fitted some new pads and discs to a 1999 golf mk4 1.4, everything went smoothly untill i came to put her 18" alloys back on, once they were on i couldnt move the car and i could hear a scraping noise.. so whipped them off again and found the metal plate on brake pad was touching the inside of her alloys and dug a groove all the way round! which cracked the brake pad, so i returned the pads and was replaced with another brand but they are still the same thickness and still touch the wheels when fitted!! i then tried the stock steal wheel and its fine no problem attall, my question is after all this is... should there be spacers on when fitting bigger alloy wheels??? could that be the problem??? hope someone can help... Guest mcnsongs
i have noticed problems when braking hard.. so i had the brakes changed... both the disc and the pads.. however.. the wheels locked up.. but the mechanic saw the problem and started grinding the sides of the brake so the wheels would move.. it has worked.. but there is still noise.. so.. i will be taking it back monday so he can grind further.. unless there is a different solution..?? different brake pads or something? any help will be apreciated.. thanks
