caseys
Apologies if anyone's post up on here before about it, but I found all this quite insightful... I'm a scientific, methodical sceptical type of person so generally find personally tests a load of old claptrap... but.. People generally take an IQ test to measure intelligence, but some psychologists like Carl Jung and Isabel Myers created something called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers-Briggs_Type_Indicator Basically people fit into 16 different character types in the world, with four different pairs of type. This test helped them define who a person was, how they reacted to the other 15 types as well as how they thought and what sort of job/role in life they would be suited to. They believed personality traits made you go for jobs or roles or persuits in life rather than just IQ. I've got a few people I know to do the test and found it quite insightful as to how they think, how I think and how we get on. Also made me realise why some people think I'm an arrogant **** at times One form of the test is located here : http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm And a definition of the types can be located here: http://typelogic.com/intj.html (I'm an INTJ, rest of the links are at the top, wikipedia also covers all of them in detail, including what sort of job roles they fell into. INTJs appear to be strageists / masterminds, including the likes of Hitler, Caesar and Hannibal. Joy.) Most of the supermods, Ian C, Chris W, Michael, JustGav and Nic I think will all be INTJ. I think most of the moderators and a few of the usual suspects on here will be INTJ or INTP, especially the more technically inclined. I also think we've got a fair few extroverts here too tho I will be surprised if we have anyone that's INFJ Feel free to try it and post up what type you are, I'm curious Added Poll results to make it a little easier

This may be expressed with the charm and finesse of a world leader or with the insensitivity of a cult leader. The ENTJ requires little encouragement to make a plan. One ENTJ put it this way... "I make these little plans that really don't have any importance to anyone else, and then feel compelled to carry them out." While "compelled" may not describe ENTJs as a group, nevertheless the bent to plan creatively and to make those plans reality is a common theme for NJ types. - Joe Butt, University of Virginia

ADL Mark
Your Type is: ENFJ Extraverted 67%, Intuitive 38%, Feeling 12%, Judging 56% You are: * distinctively expressed extravert * moderately expressed intuitive personality * slightly expressed feeling personality * moderately expressed judging personality ENFJs are the benevolent 'pedagogues' of humanity. They have tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their nurturant tutelage and/or grand schemes. Many ENFJs have tremendous power to manipulate others with their phenomenal interpersonal skills and unique salesmanship. But it's usually not meant as manipulation -- ENFJs generally believe in their dreams, and see themselves as helpers and enablers, which they usually are. Allegedly Beneath the quiet exterior, INFJs hold deep convictions about the weightier matters of life. Those who are activists -- INFJs gravitate toward such a role -- are there for the cause, not for personal glory or political power. INFJs are champions of the oppressed and downtrodden. They often are found in the wake of an emergency, rescuing those who are in acute distress. INFJs may fantasize about getting revenge on those who victimize the defenseless. The concept of 'poetic justice' is appealing to the INFJ.

Max Headroom
Your Type is INFJ Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging Strength of the preferences % 56 38 38 56 Famous people of your particular type John Bradshaw, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, John Calvin, Nicole Kidman Counselors have an exceptionally strong desire to contribute to the welfare of others, and find great personal fulfillment interacting with people, nurturing their personal development, guiding them to realize their human potential. Although they are happy working at jobs (such as writing) that require solitude and close attention, Counselors do quite well with individuals or groups of people, provided that the personal interactions are not superficial, and that they find some quiet, private time every now and then to recharge their batteries. Counselors are both kind and positive in their handling of others; they are great listeners and seem naturally interested in helping people with their personal problems. Not usually visible leaders, Counselors prefer to work intensely with those close to them, especially on a one-to-one basis, quietly exerting their influence behind the scenes. Counselors are scarce, little more than one percent of the population, and can be hard to get to know, since they tend not to share their innermost thoughts or their powerful emotional reactions except with their loved ones. They are highly private people, with an unusually rich, complicated inner life. Friends or colleagues who have known them for years may find sides emerging which come as a surprise. Not that Counselors are flighty or scattered; they value their integrity a great deal, but they have mysterious, intricately woven personalities which sometimes puzzle even them. Counselors tend to work effectively in organizations. They value staff harmony and make every effort to help an organization run smoothly and pleasantly. They understand and use human systems creatively, and are good at consulting and cooperating with others. As employees or employers, Counselors are concerned with people's feelings and are able to act as a barometer of the feelings within the organization. Blessed with vivid imaginations, Counselors are often seen as the most poetical of all the types, and in fact they use a lot of poetic imagery in their everyday language. Their great talent for language-both written and spoken-is usually directed toward communicating with people in a personalized way. Counselors are highly intuitive and can recognize another's emotions or intentions - good or evil - even before that person is aware of them. Counselors themselves can seldom tell how they came to read others' feelings so keenly. This extreme sensitivity to others could very well be the basis of the Counselor's remarkable ability to experience a whole array of psychic phenomena. I work with children with emotional and behavioural problems!!

MarkR
YOUR TYPE: E N T P Strength of the preferences % 22 12 12 33 "Clever" is the word that perhaps describes ENTPs best. The professor who juggles half a dozen ideas for research papers and grant proposals in his mind while giving a highly entertaining lecture on an abstruse subject is a classic example of the type. So is the stand-up comedian whose lampoons are not only funny, but incisively accurate. ENTPs are usually verbally as well as cerebrally quick, and generally love to argue

Professor Kenny
I did one of these a couple of years ago, a friend of my ex-wife was studying to be accredited in this and used me as a "test". It came out quite accurate, I can't remember my type, but I'm a big picture kind of guy, not too interested in details apparently. Makes sense that I can't remember the details then really, doesn't it? =)
