Replica BBS LM Alloy Wheels

I think the whole point of this thread is for people who want the look of the BBS wheels , They are never going to be as good as the real thing, but as people have pointed out, theyt are about 1/4 of the cost of genuine BBS rims , personally i would spend the money on the real thing, but these are possibly good for someone on a budget, some of the comments about the seller would concern me though.

I'm tempted to pull this as I see it as playing with people lives. BBS wouldn't have had a 400% markup on the wheels. So, it must be that the processes and materials used in these replica's are sub standard.

When you have a 300BHP, 180MPH car that can corner at up to 1G and has to deal with UK roads, are you going to just *hope* that a cheap and nasty wheel hangs together. Or just prey it's a quick death? This is as bad if not worse than using cheap tyres...

The bbs are proper plit rims, i very much doubt these are, id not be worried about the strength.

Id say a good 60% of supra owners have "cheap and nasty" wheels and are still alive;)

These wheels are made in "Taiwan" when i spoke to him "and not like the cheap crap from china" was he comment, im sorry but both are as bad as each other hence another reason for pulling out. The wheels are generic, the pcds are drilled to suit different cars and so are the offsets machined down to suit the particular...hardly custom then.

The wheels are made by a single guy in taiwan who normally takes 10-12 weeks but such is the demand the turnaround time is now longer. A far cry from the professional standards of BBS. A guy with hundreds of wheels to make, very cheaply, in soaring heat, underpressure = recipe for disaster + very very dangerous

I've read all the posts and can understand the concerns of some people on here but as has been said before they are replica wheels no different to any other budget or replica wheels on here which have been bought from eBay or other sources.

If I don't get 4 people who want to join me then I will just get a different set. My motive was to get myself a good looking set of wheels for my Supra and another few members too.

Please can you tell me what has changed from the fourth post in this thread where you were recommending BBS LM Reps and the quality of the wheels.

This post was incidentally the catalyst for me making enquiries into obtaining the wheels.

Just to note, the lip is different, as too the positioning of the holes and the 'studs' are different. Genuine BBS LM's are forged split rims, I doubt these are. You will also find you wont be able to get center caps for them either.

first thing was the time it was taking, then further into the conversations with JJ and a couple of member of the UK-mkivs.net forum, the quality was ubber shite with 2 front wheels going out of round very very quickly....

my initial thoughts were quite positive on the wheels and as you know i did place a deposit for them but as i spoke to a few more members the actual cheapness of the wheels are exactly that....cheap. Great looking imho but not worth the safety. Ive looked at the wheels up close and in person and they are so much heavier than what genuines lm's are and contraty to what i was led to believe. A few members have received theres on the corrado forums too where it all started. Sorry buddy, just trying to help you not make a mistake which you may regret, at the end of the day its your money your choice but if i had known half the info i do now when i had ordered them......

I know everybody on here is trying to be helpful and I have take on board all the comments.

From what other people have now said I wouldn't want to be blamed for people buying wheels that they are unhappy with.

If people who are impartial have seen the quality and say that they are not worth buying then I will pull the thread completely and rather be safe than sorry. Please can a mod do this for me?

There are plenty of wheels that I like so will have to keep my eye out.

Can your supplier quote the exact methods used to make the wheels and can they give the exact grade of alloy? And can they guarentee that grade?

These are simple questions for anyone making anything!

If they can't do these things I would say they are not worth your efforts, and potential bad name should things go wrong. Whilst we all want cheaper goods, we must recognise that quality will usually decrease with it.

I hopoe you understand that I'm trying to be impartial but I can't see many positives atm.
