GT30/40 on a 2JZ-GTE, anyone got one?

GT3540 .82A/R is the full name I'm sure

There is a GT30/40 that the Evo crowd use, and HKS do a GT3040 too, but not sure what the specs are

The amuse supra was only around 450bhp iirc, it would be a lot of money for so little gain, and you would always be thinking why didnt I go larger:rolleyes:

conversion ££wise you would be looking at 5k minimum, the manifold and wg setup would be the biggest purchase unless you went arnouts route

Yes sorry its the GT3582R but there is some truth in the GT3540 naming cant recall, its something to do with the 'family' of turbines to compressors#

edit(again): GT35/40 is the former name

GT3582R is the correct name, with 'GT35' being the frame size depicted by the turbine wheel inducer diameter and the '82R' being the Compressor Inducer Diameter in mm and Ball Bearing

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/tech_center/gt_basics.html

So a GT30/40 I gather is a former name, this would be extended by specifying the Compressor Inducer Diameter i.e GT3071R

It just happens to be that the turbine Housing Nic has went for(as I have I) is the .82A/R

It would be nice to know what the full amuse turbo specs were, although tbh it didnt look that fast in the vid(although the mines skyline is in a totally different level of tune)

Anyone running a GT30/40 ball bearing turbo on a 2JZ-GTE engine? Specifically a .70 one? How do you find it? Thanks.

hi mate i have a hks gt30/37 the same as the amuse. it is on fool boost by 2500rpm and it made 497bhp with 600nm @1.2 bar so it is great i think.for street or track i love it no lag

I'm running a Garrett GT4088R, .95 AR and it starts boosting at about 3200rpm but doesn't get above .5 bar until 3800rpm then it immediately rips up to 1.35bar and I can't tell you any other readings as it's time to change gear and climb out of the back into the front seat again. it's dyno'ed at 556bhp but I normally drive it on the second map which holds it at 1 bar boost when it is outputting 400bph.

It's a slight PITA when coming out of roundabouts at a 'sensible' speed in 2nd waiting for the road to straighten before giving it at least half throttle as the spin up is so fast I wouldn't trust it kicking in at any sort of angle even with the RLTC.

Great fun though but retrospectively I reckon a GT35 would have been a better daily driver for low down torque.

Ive had both .81 and .95 gt4088's they are night and day, get a .81 hotside on that and you will love it if it lasts;) the .95 was very laggy imo:)

Thanks for the advice... I always thought it would have an impact. What cost you looking at being a numptey (ie is it the housing that changes or does that require a different manifold or whatever) :search:

Its just the hotside, they dont cost much and are pretty easy to change, Kyle will get you one.
