I thought about that gav because i just recently put ebc red stuff pads on the back but not the front but when i checked them visually they look fine on the front

As suggested above, brake cleaner. Alternatively, if you have a bit of spare time, get the calipers off and give them a wire brushing, check the pads, grease them up with copper grease and reassemble. (Sounds daft and I'm sure you know, don't put the grease on the pad surface, just a bit of CMA)

yes, you will be able to get it from halfords. i once bought yellow stuff pads for a differnt car and it squeeled a lot and after trying everything i changed the pads and all was good, turned out the pads were not a good match with the disk causing the squeeks. as Gav said, giving the brakes a good clean up with a brush and make sure there is grease between the pad and calliper (the back of the pad), that will allow more movement and stop the pads from sticking.

Anti squeal shims ;)

Yep, it'll more than likely be these fella.

You can just bend them back for now, but order some new pads now :) Just check for a bit of metal from the shim touching the disc surface. If the shims don't have them then just blast the dust out and see if it continues.

I had a weird rubbing noise on mine yesterday which worried me for a minute. Drove down a hill and braked quite a bit let go of break and suddenly get this all mighty scraping sound :o

Was close to home so went down lane parked up and had a look to see if I could find anything. :search:

Seemed ok but cause I got worried I went of to local Garage anyway, as soon as I got back onto main road of my lane the noise had gone

Garage checked and found nothing at all breaks seems fine and dandy. They guess the same as me, prolly some crap got on the pad or disk and created the noise (Has been dry for days plus I live down a dirt track)

Yeah had a look today the pads are done the one on the inside is just about bare:(

At least its nothing major il get some ordered and fit them at the weekend:)

Even(ish) or obviously uneven pad wear on both sides? You could have a caliper that is sticking slightly [as per your old man mentioned] (again an issue I had to have corrected, piddling brakes drove me nuts for a while!) - just something to check, though it is probably nowt.

The inside pad was considerably more worn than the outside one, although both were pretty well worn and need replaced what did you have to do to sort yours mate:)

Made an RS of that sorry!

I had a friend that is a mechanic specialising in Jap imports refurbish the calipers (because I am not that great with some of the finer mechanical points so let a mate in the know fix) - ordered bits from Toyota (not overly pricey for an urgent fix IIRC) - seemed to fix the issues! Some of the J-Spec calipers actually crack it seems (fault? who knows but seems to happen).

You can get caliper refurb kits (not for cracked calipers - sadly you need new ones if they are) from Toyota - If you have your spec on hand (UK, J-Spec etc) - I am sure someone like Nic here could furnish you with the numbers to bug your local dealership with - order from Nic for possibly the best deal on any OEM parts you can get if you can wait a little while, or local dealership if desperate (they are mostly quite good as long as you give them exact part numbers and can have them within 1-2 working days but bloody pricey). Open question: Does the club still have a cheap OEM chap on hand such as Steve Manley (I have been kinda afk for 14months+ so am not aware of any changes like this) - if so that would be the best mid ground for OEM bits required in a timely manner.
