Hi guys,

Here's a quick update. We made a set of braces for the 2uz motor to keep the main caps tight under high rpm. A little extra insureance can go a long way.

What's the material there? As said it's a Cast Iron block so to stiffen that up the metal must be pretty robust.

Does it go under the caps or stop before them on each side? It looks like it stops so I guess the main bracing is longditudinal...

I take it longer bolts are in use ;) :p

Hi Alex,

Ed's an NA application so we can use a 1018 steel. There's not a whole lot of stress on the manis normally, but a little insurance under high rpm can't hurt. Fast forward to a TT application, and we have to switch to a much more stiff 17-4 staineless. It has a yield strength of 110,000psi so it's going to resist any sort of flex. The braces simple affix to the top of the mains and longer bolts used. This with our upcoming billet 4 bolt splayed mains will result in a very stable bottom end.

Thanks!

Eric
