Ian C
Oh my word, just read this on our intranet at work: "an employee network committed to enhancing professional development and organisational effectiveness by fostering recognition and appreciation of the individual contributions made by employees of all sexual orientations" Just thought I'd share that. Never read anything quite like it before that wasn't a parody or satire! -Ian

Snooze
I think you need to query them on "all sexual orientations" and ask for a full list so you can ensure that you are included, mate!

tbourner
Have they changed age discrimination law again recently? I'm sure I heard it was being tightened even more in some way? I'm waiting for the point where I can sue my local chip shop for selling an OAP special cod and chips cheaper than they sell it to me - surely that's age discrimination? Then I'll get onto the bus company...
carl0s
Why did they need to add the bit about sexual orientation? Why didn't they say: "fostering recognition and appreciation of the individual contributions made by employees of all sexual orientations, all skin colours, all hair types, drinkers & non-drinkers, all religions" (and on..) Weird. Is there a sexual orientation discrimination case going through the company or something?
Ian C
Oh, no it was something about "Aviva Pride", the company magazine done by the company, for the company, aimed at employees who are anything but straight. Hence the justification for it. -Ian
carl0s
Ah yes, that explains it then Aviva Pride, our recently established UK gay, lesbian and bisexual network
Ian C
Yes, note the lack of "straight" in that list because they are so awesomely non-discriminatory. -Ian

Class One
Yes, note the lack of "straight" in that list because they are so awesomely non-discriminatory. -Ian Maybe a point worth making. What the hell has anyones sexual orientation go to do with the workplace? I have nothing against anyone of any sexual persuasion, what you do in private is your own business, but I hate it when they try and shove it down your throat. Alex
Ah, so you've got a gay HR Manager then Ian? In a company of 40,000 we have quite a few HR managers and yes they are mainly rug munchers... Oh and just to be normal and not make a fuss and not make anything standout like they are different from anyone else...instead of the Yellow/Blue corporate colour scheme they've used PINK... Were you not tempted just to take the piss and fill in utter rubbish? I.e. sex: 'yes please' and orientation: 'between desk 134 and desk 136'. I would be interested as to how they would react... I.e. they can't force you to provide information not relevant to the job etc.
