Tourniquet
Just wondered if anyone on here was part of a gun club of any sort ??? I've googled Essex Gun Clubs and found a few but wouldn't mind a bit of help if people know of anything that might help. I like the look of the US gun ranges that you can go to but Im sure we don't have anything like that over here lol. I'm interested in hand guns and rifles but not clay pigeon. I trained on the SA80 in 4 Para so some with longer ranges would be good. Cheers
Aero-M
there is one called star gun club, it is on the road between hullbridge and rayleigh, on the left after the army cadets, I used to go to this one when i lived in hullbridge, before the handgun ban. they still fire revolvers with the really long barrels and bit out the back ( technical term) also fire rimfire rifles.. or there is a rifle club on the same road as the old brick works, just outside rochford, they used to fire full bore when i went. RobDogg
If I remember correctly I don't think you can shoot handguns anywhere in the UK unless it is a black powder gun. Im not 100% though but my mates are into shooting and said it was a total ban!
MarkR
Any in London? I used to shoot rifles and pistols in South Africa, and really miss it.
Andy-No-Knee
Gun clubs... Yep, I am a member of a rifle club in Enfield. You will not fire pistols in this country outside of the military now (or maybe Saaaaf Landan) due to Dunblaine, they are ALL banned even the oylimpic pistol team has to train in France. Different types of clubs though, some are shotgunning clubs, like clays, or practical shotguning (like an IBS Range) and then different types of rifle clubs too. Best to googel or contact the NRA at Bisley for your local club, or find out when a shoot is on there and see if they have 'open' days. Were you at White City??? Andy-No-Knee
Opps, saying that the only pistols you are allowed to own and shoot at one that have a 12" barrel and a sholder stock attached to the handle, so technically they are classes as Carbines. Jake
I believe Ian "He seemed such a nice quiet man, said a stunned neighbour" Chisholm is our resident gun toting maniac in waiting. Just kidding Ian, please don't shoot me.

Wow quite a few replies, I wasn't expecting as many lol. Yes matey I was at White City in good ol' Saaaf Africa Road where many a run induced heart attack was worked on !! I would like to get back in and play with the real toys as a qualified Para but Im a lazy barsteward and thought this would be a possible way forward without 10 mile tabs with 30-40lbs of kit lol
Ian C
The only handgun-shaped thing you are allowed to own now is a Long Barreled Revolver and it's classed as exactly that, an LBR, and not a carbine. It's got to have a 12" barrel minimum, and an overall length of at least 24", hence the loopy wrist brace that people bend out of the way in the first minute of ownership A carbine is a rifle platform that fires handgun rounds, such as .357mag and you are allowed those. The Marlin and Winchester lever action carbines are popular. The only semi autos you can have now are .22LR ones. See pics I haven't got any decent pics of the .22lr Walther or the Marlin .357 alas (only arty shots of the latter) I used to like shooting handguns, I was good at it. Still, at least the ban did for gun violence what speed cameras did for road safety -Ian
