Guigsy
Hi guys. I need someone with a facelift car to do me a favour. Ive got a facelift centre grill bar from Mr t. Sprayed up and ready to fit. I just wondered exactly how it fits in the bumper? There are a couple of holes to attach it into the top and bottom and then 2 holes on each end. I just wondered how it was actualy fitted into the bumper? i dont want to drill holes and get it wrong
Ewen
I can start you off, and hopefully someone can add to or correct me. The facelift grill bar has two location bosses at each end, the central upright has two fixing holes at the top, and one at the bottom. The bosses at each end of the bar locate in two holes already there on a facelift bumper....dont know if the pre-facelifts have these or not. From memory, the bosses just pop into and locate in these holes...I cant remember if there were bolts fitted, sorry. The central upright uses the fixings on the existing trim....the lower, single fixing is the central captive bolt for the lower black lining strip along the bumper inlet hole...the upper two fixings use the two central pull-out studs for the alloy stiffener that runs across the top edge of the bumper inlet hole...again, I dont know if these trim fixings are the same on the non-facelift. mattdavies
Sorry to bring up an old thread but what exactly did you do with the mounts on the end of the facelift grill bar ?
Guigsy
3 options drill some holes Use a self tapping screw Shave the nubs off the end and use that tape you stick number plates on with
mattdavies
What did you do ? And how has it held up ? Would you do it the same again ?
Guigsy
Iirc I used tap. But it didn't hold well. My new car has a facelift bumper so doesn't need it. But I'll be fitting a pre facelift soon and probably screwing it in
Krister
Just drill the holes. Tape wont cut it.
