SupraHuman
Is it a stock bonnet?I had this problem about 4 years ago with my CF bonnet.I ended up filing away about 1.5mm in the latch mecanism itself.Worked then.if it is a stock bonnet i can't help I'm afraid. Scooter
there are two rubber cylinders at the front and on each side on the bonnet. These can be screwed out or in, try screwing them in a bit and trying again?
Scooter
Or with the bonnet up use a screw drive etc to simulate the bonnet closing.......does the latch shut? How does the bonnet release lever feel in the car?

alex2jz
Or with the bonnet up use a screw drive etc to simulate the bonnet closing.......does the latch shut? How does the bonnet release lever feel in the car? I tried to simulate closing it with a tool, pushed the mechanism down as much as it can go but it popped back.. The release lever feels a bit weak but not completely loose. Still i can remember it wasn't as weak as this last time I checked. I don't think it will matter if the mechanism won't lock mate
Scooter
I don't think it will matter if the mechanism won't lock mate i was thinking that the metal hoops on the bonnet weren't getting down far enough into the mechanism to latch....... suprasurrey
If the release lever feels weaker than usual your release cable may be very dry, or a strand of the inner cable may have broken and got caught in the outer sleeve. If the cable still moves freely, try some 3 in1 oil on the cable ends where the inner meets the outer. Also, oil the moving parts of each lock assembly. When i pull the leaver i can hear a ticking noise in the engine compartment ... meaning the cable is moving ok ? idk... i'll try oiling the areas in the morning, thanks mate
alex2jz
Nothing works... i give up .... Neither of the latches won't lock onto anything, pulling the leaver in the car (definitely weaken) will result in a ticking under the hood somewhere in the drivers upper part. I tried pushing the metallic wire connected to the leaver into the cable and managed making the leaver stiffen and go into closed position and than tried to close the bonnet but with no success... Guess i need to take the car somewhere this weekend or get someone to do something to it cause i need it on Monday and i'm also doing highway miles and don't want a broken windshield or killing somebody. Sheeeesssshhhhh.... unbelivable
