Sharpie
Don't they use the hard shoulder already in some parts of the M6 ? or is that the M42 ? Maybe during peak times or somthing?? or to enable people getting off at the next junction the chance to jump the queue, if it's at standstill ?? I'm sure I have seen a sign.... Gaz Walker
To get to Mine's I have to pay 3quid to get out of Yokohama, then 5 quid to get down to the main junction, then 1.50 to use a small single lane road that goes up to the town they're just outside of. Round trip 19quid + petrol. I use public transport for getting about 99% of the time. It's faultless. At least Japan has a proper public transport system and maintained road network though! Gaz. Nick
Very good point however do they have road tax in japan? Now I don't mind the govenment doing this if they were to get rid of road tax that way the more you use your car the more tax you pay. This way it gets away from the whole "oh you have a gas guzzler I am going to rape you on tax even though you only use it once in a blue moon". Yep. I can't remember how much it is, but it's a couple of hundred quid at least. Then there's the Shaken which you have to get done every two years which is the equivalent of a MOT and that's a few hundred quid too. Parking spaces don't come cheap either, but at least the tax on fuel isn't so bad. Owning a car in Japan is expensive though. At least Japan has a proper public transport system and maintained road network though! Gaz. Some of the toll roads could do with some work, but I guess you feel it more with a firmly sprung GT-R... The public transport has to be seen to be believed though.
