Still misfiring??

right ill start from the beginning, NA-TT swop, found a grey wire (possibly de-limiter but not sure) spliced into the old loom on the NA, Fitted new engine, fired up and was running lumpy so spliced the grey wire into new loom and seemed to run fine, took her home and everything running smoothly.

Came home from work today and had to put all the ECU's back into place so wrapped the wires with insulation tape, put the ECU's back in, started the engine and it was running very lumpy again. Took car to mates house, car wanted to stall all the way there.

Put a proper connector on and came home but its still doing the same. Ive since found out that the wire its spliced into is number 17 on the E9 block on the ECU (which another member kindly pointed out tonight) which is for no.4 injector?

When i got home the car was idling at 500 revs on the verge of stalling and as soon as i touched the grey wire it stalled?

Any ideas guys as its getting me down :(

I was meant to be taking a chick out tomorrow but gonna have to use the van to impress now :(

I can't understand why you are spliced into an injector wire unless it has been used as some sort of RPM signal wire (eeeek!!!) for something like an SAFC or the like?

Unless you are running a piggyback/standalone/anything like that there is NO reason to splice into the injector wires and you don't really want to anyway and risk running low fuelling on one cylinder.

Definitely, if it is grounding out or there is an errant signal coming down it, it may cause #4 injector not to fire which would then give you the rough running scenario.

Check and double check where that wire runs to and from...

right had a quick look at this last night, took all of the dash out and traced the wire as far as i could. It go across to under the dials onto a bullet connector) and then looks like it goes to the rear, under the centre console, on a black wire??

Also it was spliced into ignitor pin 58, ignitor feedback. But now ive tried putting iut back on, the car does not start at all.

I need someone to come and have a look :(

what happens if you remove all the stray wires mate?

well nothing makes any difference anymore? it wont start at all, it turns over but doesnt fire up. Its all very strange! :(

its a jspec ECU. im gonna double check what wire it was spliced into on the old loom tomorrow. would the NA and TT looms/ECU be different?

The NA and TT engine looms and ECU are very different. If you have a TT loom and ECU then all should be okay. As mentioned, there shouldn't be anything chopped into an injector wire so you need to trace whats going on there before going any further.

I've got an auto TT loom and 5spd NA loom sat here so if you need any help identifying wires let me know. It's a lot easier with them off the car!
