how_supra
I've just ran upstairs and spoke to our IT department. All you need is a thing called a Vigor 2600 USB (firewall thingey!). I typed it into google and got this page up IGOR Your laptops should pic up the software automatically otherwise you need to configure them for network which is quite simple as well Does that help?? Gamer
Get the newer model DG834GT if you do go for the Netgear....as it is a bit better. Keep in mind that you will need a PCI wireless card for each computer you want to hook up. It is best to stick with another Netgear offering as set up is a doddle. The first computer is hard wired with an RJ45 cord from the new router..... You can hardwire up to 4 computers if you do not have PCI network cards but that kind of defeats the purpose of having wireless. Here is the router listed, scroll down towards the bottom of the page. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Wireless_Routers.html Here is a listing of the Netgear wireless cards, scroll down towards the bottom. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/PCI_Wireless_Network_Cards.html You can prob find it for a bit cheaper then the links I provided but at least you will have a picture and some model numbers to go by. RedSZ
On the subject of home networks - I have a pc, laptop with wifi, broadband and a wireless router. Is there a simple way of transferring large files (1GB+)from one computer to the other? I want to move all my ipod stuff to my laptop to free up space on the PC. Thanks

And it is very true you are meant to keep one PC hooked up via a Cable for firmware updates etc... I have netgear PCMCIA card (£10 in special PC world deal for a day) and Belkin wireless cards for in PC towers (£13 from cheap shop off high street) any problems mate, plenty here to help and so you know if you use AOL set MTU to 1400 or you dont get no web pages (thanx goes to carl0s for that)

If you're running XP just run the Networking wizard on all machines, it'll set most of it up for you.
