Chris Wilson
Thought you guys might appreciate this machine in with me for custom suspension: http://www.gatesgarth.com/soarer/soarer.html

PJ
I'm a fan of Soarers and that looks a lovely example (would look nicer without the rear wash/wipe, can't stand them!). Some you wouldn't look twice at, but there are some stunning examples around.

j_jza80
That's really nice Chris. I thought they all had auto gearboxes? Just out of interest, what wheels are they?
Chris Wilson
This one is converted to the MKIV Getrag 6 speed. No idea what the rims are, maybe Image? They are machined from billet, but have the wrong spigot hole size, so doubt they were custom made.
garethr
I thought they all had auto gearboxes? Only most of them. The TT also came with a 5-speed (and the SC300 in the US).

steb9780
Very nice that. Love those wheels.
Alex
Very clean...nice looking Soarer. And it looks like the owner likes to put high quality parts on, MoTeC, custom suspension...etc
Swampy442
Thats very tidy indeed, clearly the owner has spent a few quid on it. Never heard of Image wheels before, look lovely, and pricey lol
Thorin
Very nice example that, I still don't like those rear lights though. There's one round the corner from me with Supra style ones which look much better IMO.
Gaz Walker
Thats very nice. Good to see proper mods being used
Chris Wilson
Can anyone spot the 2 horrors and one "bit `orrible" in these pics? You have to look hard, especially for the second proper horror one, but they are there to see. A certain now defunct tuner presumably didn't worry... Alex
Just incase you missed the update... 1. No fan shroud... 2. Exhaust Cam cover - breather goes UPHILL!!! How is that supposed to work?! 3. Catch tank....is that really going back to the intke from the bottom? 4. 5680.jpg - Braided hose likely to destroy silicone coupler. 5. 5681.jpg - Same braided hose touching the exhaust manifold. 6. 5682.jpg - Braided hose touching brake lines. 7. Same pic - Silicon hose nigh on touching wastegate!

Thorin
Perhaps he was implying that Chris was one of the horrors in the pics, I don't see his mug in any reflections in the pics though. Chris knows I'm only kidding
Ian C
Horror 1 = no fan shroud/ducting Horror 2 = oil return hose touching exhaust manifold runner Orrible 1 = Breather system has no part throttle connection any more Thats my guesses -Ian
Chris Wilson
My 2 main concerns are the stainless braided teflon lined turbo oil drain pressed up hard onto a potentially red hot manifold runner, one of the 2 (why....?) wastegates has it's silicone pressure / vac pipe resting against the potentially red hot housing. less dramatic are the expensive and quite beautiful wheels have been made with an oversize spigot hole, and the rears are using spacers, presumably for damper clearance. I agree the fan needs a shroud for effective cooling. I don't see any problem in the engine ventilation, that looks OK to me. The drain hose could be a major issue to sort though, space is very tight and having 2 wastegates doesn't help, nor does the car being RHD. It's all horribly close to the bottom rad to block hose stuff, too. Thankfully I am only doing suspension work. Radiated and convected heat seems to be something these turbo kit makers never address in any meaningful way
Alex
Why get custom wheels and get them wrong...unless of course, he bought them second hand...we'd just noticed the rears were sticking out too much but obviously didn't know about the spacers. Chris Wilson
For the record they are American CCW wheels. They look very similar to the Image ones though! http://www.ccwheel.com/files/wheelprofiles-display.php?id=C14
