Smoke

I have been reading around the forum on this subject and am unsure so thought I would post this up.

When I start my car from cold it puffs a little blue smoke but literally just as i start it and then it stops!

I have read that if it was Valve stem seals then this puff would last for around 10 seconds so im thinking its not that?

However, i have just had an oil service done on the car so i was wondering whether it could be maybe be a bit of excess oil burning off as I only ever see this blue smoke on cold start up!

Any help would be much appreciated

it probably is that.........

......is the car a daily driver? can you remember the last time you didn't use it for a few days straight?

Yeah unfortunately it is used daily and has never sat around for longer than a day!

thats not unfortunate :)

the small puff will turn into a larger puff if you leave it longer between using it, using it daily won't allow much oil to drain down onto the tops of the pistons before you fire it up again.

Some old info here

i'm not sure if any of the forum traders do head left on change (cheaper option).

the thread above has comments where people have left it for a number of years..........it will steadily get worse but doesn't afaik have a significant negative knock on effect on anything else engine wise.
