Saint AAI
Whats involved in turbo charging an N/A Supra and how much roughly would it cost? Reason is I've got 8.5K to spend on a Supra, but cant find a manual TT I want, so was thinking about an SZ and putting a turbo on it later on. Shall I carry on looking for a TT or go down this route, advise please.
Guest Terry S
We do a NA Boostlogic kit which inc. FMIC etc. Depends on you modding budget and ulimate power goal. TBH it's not going to work out cheaper than buying a TT in the first place.
Matt_J
I'm not sure about the cost of fitting a turbo to a N/A engine. Quite alot of work involved. I thought about it, but was told that I should have just bought a TT Supra. You could try; http://www.fensport.co.uk If you get a price, post it on here. Cheers mate. Saint AAI
I know but I want a supra soon and I cant find a manual RZ in the colours I want for the money I have, need one before the end of the month really or I will have to insure my other car again and will have to wait even longer and save again. Terry, I'd be happy with 280BHP, but eventually would want about 350, is the kit you sell just a bolt on using standard engine internals? How much is it and whats the likely power gains? Supragal
I'm not sure a manual TT for 8.5k will be in very good nick. Unless you get lucky!

That why im thinking of getting an SZ and putting a turbo on it, I know it will cost more in the end, but im after a good base car.
Guest Terry S
I dont know much about the NA, but you would need to chek that it had the 6 speed V160 or V161 box, as this is the strong box. email me to discuss
JustGav
I considered the NA-T route, and looked at it VERY seriously... In fact I looked at three routes... a) NA-T b) Supercharger c) TT engine swop... I know people in the US are running the NA-T's fairly succesfully, but it is a fair amount of work... and the NA auto box is nowhere near strong enough to take the load...so it would have to be a rebuilt tranny or the V160 gearbox. That said I'm not sure if the NA's had the V160 gearbox (could be completley wrong here).. I don't believe 8.5k would buy you an NA and leave you enough cash to get it running right... not unless you want to run VERY low boost pressure... I would say, look at a TT with an autobox, you will be suprised... Gav
Saint AAI
Could I get a decent Auto TT for my cash then? I wouldn't be looking to but and turbo an N/A for 8.5k, just buy it and turbo at later date, however just got a qutoe for N/A and they want twice as much! So will consider the auto TT, either that or a 3rd Gen RX-7.
Supragal
It will be cheaper to insure a TT than an NA. Have a look in the traders sections at the bottom, whifbitz, miami-gt all list cars for sale so have a look and see whats around to give an idea on price mate. Guest Terry S
Try an auto. The Auto in the TT Supra is one of the best there is. You will fine one for 8.5k IMO

Dragonball
Well there goes my pondering on getting a facelift N/A Aerotop next and going budget single... Not necessarily m8! Why not transplant the whole lot?
adi2009
well getting back to the getrag 6spd tranny on the NA, some of the later models did come with them but they are rare.
Aerotop Dave
Not necessarily m8! Why not transplant the whole lot? Because my mighty brute is already 12 years old - in another 4 or 5 years time when I wanna swap it's gonna be 16 or 17! I wanted the advantage of an allround newer car. Dragonball
No - I mean why not buy an N/A aero and transplant the whole TT (or a whole from another car) into it - rather than mess around with just changing / turbo charging an N/A? ?? Faye
Well there goes my pondering on getting a facelift N/A Aerotop next and going budget single... You'll have to find one first, I actually think they are rarer than TT aerotops.
