What to do? go for performance or new Wheels?

I am in a state of confusion! I have some money to buy either a set of New wheels and tires, or I can buy the following parts.

HKS FMIC Type-S

UK spec front brakes

New high performance fuel pump

Ebach Prokit Springs

Apex S-AFC

What should I do buy a fancy set of wheels or this other stuff?

Currently using the Racing Hart C2's 17".:conf:

I have to say that your response to the question is a little over the top - to ask 'are you taking the piss' could lead to people miscontruing the tone and content of your comment

I have seen this happen quite a few times now from various people on this forum and believe that it can lead to bad feeling and intimidation to a few who may be nervous about appearing naive - and asking questions from those who have undoubted expertise - including yourself

:twak:

However - my subjective view of your question - perfornance - but check your insurance ramifications

Thanks for that Paul! I have no problems regarding insurance. I have always wanted a nice set of wheels like the SSR Decolte Evolution 18/9 and 18/10.5 with some bad ass rubber like 255 front /295 rear combo! Makes the car look really cool.:D

My irritatation comes from Randy having posted on a number of occasions about the problems he is having with det on his car. He has been advised what is most likely to fix the problem on more than one occasion, but doesn't seem to want to take this on board

In the light of this and his constant concerns that he is damaging his car he now comes and posts this question (one of the options include what is most likely fix his det problems, an FMIC) is both crazy and a waste of peoples time

Anyway, I'm sure that if Randy is perfectly capable of ignoring perfectly good advice and compromising the engine in this car he can decide if he's going to get a set of new wheels or not without our assistance.

What you say may be valid - but this is up to Randy - and your comments will now flame bad feeling and result in backwards and forward responses - as this has happened before from various sources!

For what reason?

Just chill bro'!! Dont get frustrated! Be cool - be nice!

Anyone seen my Prozac?

PS It's a nice and hot one out there!

Yours, well everybodys, Steve. :moo:

[ ps. Performance myself..... but I need it, to make up for the fact

that I'm a crap driver......:p

PLUS, the nicer the car looks - the more it gets vandalized/thieved

in S.Essex ! ! ]

Randy you really need to get a grip on your goals for the car. You should take a time out to make your own decision.

Where can you get the SSR's from???

Gavin,

Sorry to irritate you!:( But, you come up with your own conclusion on what problems my car is facing sitting 6000+miles from me. I suggest you not come forth and base your opinions as fact! I know what problems my car has as to detonation, it was the 12 volt fuel pump mod which partly solved my problem and in no account did I say I was detonating continously due to high intake charge. It was just at a particular RPM and on part throttle- I had no problems on full throttle even running 1.3 bar boost.

Anyway like I said your knowledge is based on what you see right in your head and does not state fact.

While I know you are trying to help me solve my problem, it does not do good to assume be self righteous, and mock me for not listening to your advice.

Take it easy! Be more considerate to people and there problems. That is why we are on this forum to help each other.:D :) :D

Sorry - but I have to take issue with your comment too Terry - you are being far too judgemental and patronising

There is no need for this kind of response on a friendly BBS

Keep them to yourself!

Sorry - but as a newbie - this does get me mad - because it's very detrimental to newcomers feeling welcome

Paul

Good night John-boy

Terry, what is the point of being on this board if I don't have the freedom to ask you guys about genuine problems I have. What is the point having a poll or in that case asking for opinions? This is done so that it will enable me or you to make a better decisions.

Anyway Im dissapointed about this hiper behaviour which leads to personal attacks. Also like Paul says creates ill-feeling among us.

Here you go Terry the website for SSR is:

http://www.speedstar.co.jp/

I have not found a dealer who sells this particular wheel but you can check with SSR directly.

Paul, back off.

Randy, there is nothing wrong with my response to you. We have discussed at length your intention to replace your injectors. My suggestion for you to take a time out was genuine. Is this going to be a performance car or a show car? You can have both, but only if you have a very big pot of money. You seem to enjoy the performance side, so Gavins original suggestion to get a FMIC makes perfect sense, especially if you want a reliable car that can sustain high boost. Charge temperature is the god of detonation. What's the average ambient temperature 6000 miles away??. My mail to you was not meant to be critical, so don't jump on Paul's soap box with him!

Randy those wheels you're talking about are the best I've seen apart from Veilside stuff. They are exactly the wheels I would get for mine if I could source them and find out how much they are. Regarding wheels or performance I would get both eventually but wheels first.

All the best - Justin

315's ! !

Will the Soop take them that wide without clearance problems ? ?:conf:

If std. UK is 255 the 315's are 60mm / 2 1/3" wider ! !

( 2 2/3" wider than my 'piddlin' Jap'Spec's ! !)

ONLY ASKING.....;)

........................thought 245's looked FAIRLY chunky from the rear !

[at what point will the tyres actually meet in the middle ? ? :p ]

Steve.

Just a minor point, you cannot partially fix detonation. If you are experiencing even mild det then its too late, the damage is being done. Serious det will melt your pistons and the boost just blows them clean open. I have seen engines pulled out that detted, one of them hit 28psi and it was not a pretty sight. Imagine if you will, what a chocolate piston would look like if left in the sun for a few minutes...thats what the piston looked liked.

If you are experiencing det then forget everything else until you have fixed it, if what you have is pinking then its not so bad but still not good. Being in India your charge temps will be sky high at the best of times.

Fit a decent IC, type R might be better if you have cooling problems, run the best fuel combination you can find, and then find a tuner capable of checking your car.

If you go for the wheels the car will no doubt look nice, but your engine will be on its way out and a rebuild in the UK would cost £3k, lord knows how much it would be out there.
