ADL Mark
Also got mine the other day Daz, haven't had a chance to post yet. Thanks though, looks very cool! My girlfriend was most unimpressed as when it eats flies it does do what the plant in Little Shop of Horrors does.. No pleasing some people! Tried the trick of putting the flies in the fridge in a jar but the little buggers still wouldn't sit still and let me feed it easily.. Just one question, lots of the traps on mine are open with flies in. Are these flies it's finished digesting and it's the left over bits? Do I just leave them in there? How long did you keep the flies in the fridge? Sometimes you may need to wait upto 10 minutes. Yes, the traps that are open with flies left behind have already been digested. No need to take them out as the corpse usually attracts spiders or flies to 'what they think' is a potential meal lol Cheers mate Daz
MrRalphMan
Small [/color]£8 Hey dude, As I cannot see the pics at work, I assume this is a VFT? If so could I have it please? As long as they are fairly easy to look after as I really cannot say I have green fingers. Cheers, Paul.

I would recommend the Trichterfalle (Funnel Trap) Number 4 - Small/Medium £5 as its very robust and also you get a free Sundew (another insect eating plant with sticky leaves) in the pot. Thanks Daz

AndrewOW
I'm certainly looking forward to the Sundew for sale thread I think my VFTs will have to go on a diet soon, as I've been feeding them with freshly caught mosquitoes and flies that have been trespassing into their domain! Very satisfying it is too
MrRalphMan
Might sound silly, but do they not catch their own? Also how do you catch the flies? Just checked the pictures out (handy little proxy server) and can I ask what growths around it are.. More little plants.. Should you weed these out or let them grow? Yes they do catch their own, but as they're still a bit of a novelty, I've been feeding them. They produce a scent that attracts flies to them, but I'm just hurrying up the process a bit. I really must get out more!
MrRalphMan
Sounds good to me... Prob is I wouldn't get bored... can a plant get fat?
AndrewOW
Sounds good to me... Prob is I wouldn't get bored... can a plant get fat? I did wonder that for a moment. Weight Watchers for VFTs. I was hoping that they would just grow very large, very fast. Remember Little Shop of Horrors? Well hopefully not that big! EDIT: And hopefully won't start singing! ADL Mark
Remember Little Shop of Horrors? Well hopefully not that big! Remember it? I couldn't reminded of it every time my girlfriend looks at mine, and moans that it's not as interesting as the one off the TV.. Kept the flies in the fridge for a few hours, little buggers still just wanted to fly away!
AndrewOW
You could always say that yours is from the same species, and the one in the film was just a blown up version. Either that, or just say it wasn't real! Its called 'special effects' I've been swatting the insects, while in flight, with a ruler or rolled up magazine, and picking up the dazed fly with tweezers (without HER knowledge ahem) and popping it into the trap until it snaps shut. Works a treat
ADL Mark
Ahh, but you see I like to watch it snap the live fly and see it almost struggle as the trap closes.. Sadistic I know I tried the whole special effects, doesn't wash with her though. It should apparently clear it's throat, grow about 100 times in size and grab the fly and start singing Yes dear.. The growth around the pot is moss. Causes no problems at all and helps the soil stay together especially when posted! Your first dibbs on the Funnel trap but there is another guy interested in this so please let me know if you still want it. Cheers

Royal Mail have really done their job well this time round Thanks again Daz I've put a note on my window stating 'Don't trigger my snappers otherwise you will kill me'... to be fair people in our office respect things and apart from looking at it, leave it alone.
