Thing is will people actually get off their arses and vote the clowns out come next election?

Good point. For our recent local elections, all the campaign leaflets simply said "You don't want the Tories/Labour/Lib Dems/Communists etc in power, so vote for us!!!!!". If they can't be bothered to campaign properly on how to tackle real issues, I can't be bothered to vote. Obviously I'll take a slightly different view in a general election, but I can see why many don't bother to vote.

Just when you think they couldn't do anymore to alienate the voters they let him open his gob.

Lethargy is the greatest downfall of this country.

I can't be bothered to comment :p

If someone comes along with decent ideas and honest policies, I may get off my ar*e and vote. Unless I'm enjoying a cuppa ;)

Gorden Brown taxes you like it's fun,

Slays me down with my pension he runs,

Taxes you outright,

No need to fight ?

Never a frown with Gorden Brown

Every time he grabs your cash,

See his face when your vote is cast,

Road tax bands,

Steals all from my hands,

Never a frown with Gorden Brown

Gorden Brown fuel tax stress ?

Kick him out you know what's best !

Far far away,

Takes no more of your pay,

Never a frown with Gorden Brown

Never a frown

With Gorden Brown

Never a frown

With Gorden Brown

In being offered a currently essential commodity that is outrageously priced with absurd explanations to the pricing structure that I am completely unconvinced of, I am sad (or happy) to state that I'm seriously considering moving out of the country. One less customer for the government. I agree things need to be addressed, we haven't been doing things quite right for many years, but the reactionary speed of taxation and knee jerk over charging FAR exceed the governments feeble attempts at fixing the problem in a more economically and socially viable way. They are wrong... so very very wrong :( They are milking us all and hiding behind the whole environment issue to a point that trying to argue against them leaves you in a socially untenable position!! what is with that!?!. As a voter and someone that never voted them in, and regular petitioner of things I see unjust - I see no change in the country or its policies and feel there is no other recourse than to just simply leave... sorry guys, I feel such a splitter - but that is my final consideration as I feel completely impotent in today's climate :(

Well, they've literally flogged the green tax thing to death now

People were lapping it up to begin with, but I suspect it's becoming more and more obvious to even the dumbest people out there that it's all bollocks and the Greens have served their purpose in filling the coffers at the expense of the average guy in the street.

This is what happens when voter apathy and total stupidity let in a pair of Jock socialists to sell the country down the river.

Each day I read the paper and each day I fail to find a single reason to come back.

I already gave a likely answer to that one!

PV cells? You are having a laugh aren't you? The materials to make these cost a fortune are not what you might describe as environmentally freindly as neither is the manufacturing process. Also the act of scrapping millions of vehicles in itself would be an environmental catastrophe. Just like all the rest of his ridiculous plans, its ill conceived and utterly unworkable.

Add to that our wonderful weather and unless these cells have made some giant leap in technology there won't be enough hours of sunshine to power an egg timer unless you cover the entire surface of the UK in them---- Oh wait you can't do that because the wind farms that operate at a maximum efficiency of about 25% will get in the way.

To be fair it isn't all Gordons fault. I do feel kinda sorry for the guy in a way. He's waited in the wings for years whilst Tony stole the limelight and when he finally gets in at No10 everything was already going to the dogs for him to mop up and take the blame.

First there was the missing tapes, then there's the rising fuel closely followed by banking problems, economic slowdown and price rises.

All this whilst being pushed by the Eurocrats to be harder on green issues.

The main issue I'm seeing is that there aren't any real viable alternatives unless you've got a bit of land. There needs to be more tax breaks and benefits to adopting greener energy for people to take it up.

People do not like nuclear power...but given much more of this and they won't get many complaints about the 6 new power stations they want to build.

The PV industry is moving very quickly. See http://nanosolar.com for an example.

There must be thousands of cars on the roads where the value of a full tank of fuel exceeds the cars worth.

Indeed.

A full tank on my Pug costs about £70, the car cost me nothing (rescued from a neighbour who was going to scrap it:))

Mind you, scrap cars fetch £200 a ton now at the scrap yard so I've had it 3 years and made £200!!

It's all very well you saying that Pete - but who was in charge of the economy while TB was in the main seat? Yep, Gordon flamin Brown!

Dosnt matter what we power our cars with. It'll get taxed no matter what. Also I think I read somewhere that hybrid cars at the moment are actually counter productive due the amount of travel that is required in the production.

Anyways, I find it slightly patronising (spelling error?) for this guy to tell us what is good for us. I can make my own mind up on that one.

Did you know that Gordon Brown, being blind in one eye, doesn't have a drivers license and so has NEVER had to deal with rising fuel costs? He needs to get somewhat more in touch with his voting public if he hopes to remain in his position!

Learn something new everyday:)

I want to leave this fooking country its sad to say but its sh$$!

he is right. ultimately the planet is more important, enjoy sub £500 taxes while we can.

Its people like you that enhance his progress to bring more taxes in!! Are you out of your mind, how can a country this small make even the smallest of impacts on world pollution???

We are 1/36th of the population of china, and around 1/107th of the worlds how do you suggest that we will make a difference even if they taxed us our full salaries!!??

Its all bollo$, if you look at most other countries in the world you would see they subsidise their populations fuel, not this sh$$hole!!

On a side note - something I was going to bring up, does anyone actually feel anything from this 'Credit Crunch' other than folk in the building trade and with trying to get new mortgages e.t.c??

Thankfully, even these idiots we currently have in power would never be able to ban petrol cars from the road entirely. They could however make MOTs far more stringent and increase taxes further. While I can't see petrol cars being banned, modified petrol cars are a different matter. I should think thier days will soon be over.

You beat me to it.

Take a look at everything he's done, it's nothing short of criminal.

Don't get me started on Blair either.
