juanchan
Did you know that Gordon Brown, being blind in one eye, doesn't have a drivers license and so has NEVER had to deal with rising fuel costs? He needs to get somewhat more in touch with his voting public if he hopes to remain in his position!

carl0s
Electric cars probably will be the future. We'll all have PV cells on our roofs, and be feeding that electricity back into the grid. Maybe local power stations will become battery units instead. You can already feed electricity back into the grid, using a grid-tie invertor. The electricity company will pay you somewhere around 15p per kwh. You sell to them in the day while you're at work, and take from them in the night. This I'm sure at least helps answer the question of where the electricity comes from, and it not necessarily being fossil fuels.
AndrewOW
I'm sure there's going to be a few general elections before then, and unless the other parties are thinking the same thing, then we may have a say in it. I assume that GB will be buying us all an electric car each to make up for the fact all ours won't be worth a penny? I have to assume not
simbasupra
Can't see how this would be possible, as he can't make people buy new cars.
Chris Wilson
There must be thousands of cars on the roads where the value of a full tank of fuel exceeds the cars worth.
Hermit
I truly thought he couldn't be more unelectable, but he's outshone himself by a country mile with this one. Of course things are moving the way of electric and hybrids, but that's happening regardless of not having the duty 'escalator' in place any more... Declaring that he wants to bleed us dry in times that are going to be tough anyway is just sick!
tbourner
COOL!!! I should be able to buy an F430 in about 8 years then, should be cheap as chips!!
Homer
I can see it now, by 2020, the young of today will be on the internet/ducusions boards that existing then talking about higher power batteries, how to get more power from their 10000watt motors, etc... dangerous brain
Absolute idiot. Maybe he is trying to bleed us as dry as possible before his inevitable demise. Oh well off back to Holland for us then.
Daston
Wow he might as well just stap "I dont want to be PM any more!" on his head! What happend to the whole bio fuel thing then? And of course what will happen with all the dead batteries? Or all the fancy ores needed to make them and the safty impact of having battery acid splashed all over you if you hit a fly?
dangerous brain
My question to this complete bufoon would be where exactly is this electricity going to come from? Is he going to get us on treadmills or are they going to estate and build a hundred nuclear powerstations?

PJ
Just when you think they couldn't do anymore to alienate the voters they let him open his gob.
