Axle
What is your earliest memory as a child? How old were you? Mine was when i was playing with matches when i was 4ish. I kep lighting the matches and blowing them out then throwing them straight into a small rubbish bin upstairs in my parents house... Well few moments later damn thing set alight and i cacked myself.. Went downstairs humming to myself as if all was well.. Older Brother by 9 years was watching Rambo on TV.. About 5 mins had passed and he was like.. 'Whats that smell?'.. 'What smell?' i innocently exclaimed.. He went upstairs to the sight of half the wall ablaze! Lukily he managed to put it out with the shower hose by taking the end off and spraying at the flames for 5 mins! When mum and dad got back , i got a spanking good enough for royalty.. Never played with matches again.. Axle.
jamesmark
Mines was when I was about 2/3 and my mum knocking seven shades of sh!te out of me . I was burying my dads screwdrivers and she pulled them out for me to bury them again.

tbourner
Not sure how old I was, about 4 I think, in the garden with my brother, memory tells me it was sunny - then all of a sudden it started absolutely tipping down with rain and we both ran indoors!!! Not sure if my memory remembers a more extreme change in weather than actually happened.
Multics
Must have been 3 years old. We had a dodgy telly switching on itself (when left on standby) in the middle of the night, volume on full blast. It woke us up a few times, I remember that... 27 years later
Gaz6002
I was in the bath, I had a model hovercraft that my godmother gave me and I broke it.

Never played with matches again.. Axle. How strange...I was thinking the same thing last night as I couldn't get to sleep until 6am this morning. I don't remember anything before the age of 8'ish but I remember everything else onwards. But as I have gotten older, memories are harder to retrieve, they seem to be stored in encrypted files in the brain and seem to be harder to access maybe I forgot the passwords. I have flashbacks all the time when you least expect it, of past times and memories of things that I have done and places I have been. I still can't grasp it all there is too much information to process, maybe I need a new processor and a bigger hard drive. I remember my brother doing a very similar thing with matches, he used to light them up watch it for a few seconds and then light another again and again, one day he almost burnt down the garage as he threw the matches in the rubbish bin and set it on fire. I remember he also used to collect worms in his pocket, don't ask me why.
Chewie
I was behind bars eating a foam Noddy toy. I can remember the taste. Flipping through the family album there's a picture of me about 3 holding onto a half eaten Noddy. Big Ears was nowhere to be seen.
tbourner
I have pictures of me sitting on the floor eating cat food, but I don't remember doing it. Don't they say you shouldn't be able to remember anything before your 3rd birthday or something?

My earliest memory is being bathed in the kitchen sink. I think I was about 2. I can remember it quite clearly. I've missed that ever since! I wonder if you can get bath sized kitchen sinks nowadays?!
SILKYSMOOTH
I find it fascinating how certain things can trigger the brain to recall memories and certain events or feelings. For example...the smell of a pencil rubbers/erasers reminds me and triggers feelings of when I was back at junior school.
Charlotte
Standing at the top of the stairs and throwing my newly acquired 'my little pony' stable house thing down them in excitment (apparently I did it in excitment but I thought my sister had pushed it out of my hand or something until informed later). MrRalphMan
I was about three and was at the seaside. I'd made friends with a little girl about the same age (Settle down ed, it's not that sort of story) and we went up into the dunes. I managed to fall down a slope into some thorny plants and my 'friend' run off. I was stuck lying on these thorns, with one stuck in each thumb where I was trying to stop falling futher shouting for my Dad... Gee that one sucks doesn't, might explain how I am now... RiceRocket
Mine was when i was playing with matches when i was 4ish..... .......When mum and dad got back..... Your parents left two boys 4 and 9 in the house alone? What is your earliest memory as a child? How old were you? 4 yrs old for me too, and stealthily stealing from the kitchen and consuming a Cadburys creme egg.
Thorin
I think going on a hovercraft to France, I remember being able to walk under the one way barrier things into a little gift shop thing. Would have been 4 I think.
stevie_b
Being wheeled around in a push chair, I think. Nothing exciting, although I remember the exact location. I think my mum was walking my older brother to school. Probably 3 or 4 at the time....

Snooze
Interesting note for those of you without kids: One thing I wasn't prepared for was how many of my own childhood memories would suddenly get triggered having the littl'un around..... he'll suddenly do stuff that just triggers memories that I'd otherwise forgotten. I find it fascinating how certain things can trigger the brain to recall memories and certain events or feelings. For example...the smell of a pencil rubbers/erasers reminds me and triggers feelings of when I was back at junior school. Very true.. I used to actually collect slow worms.. SILKYSMOOTH
They look a bit interesting, but the ones my brother used to collect were any that he could find in the dirt. I could never understand it:rolleyes: the last thing I would want is to go into my pocket for a sweet or something and pulll out a wrinkled old worm to stick in my mouth, I'm not 100% but he may have put them in his mouth too... This thread has just enriched me with a memory which I believe is earlier than 8 years old, when I was in the infants school...i think:blink: where I had a bit of a fight with a big fat bulley to protect some other kids that were being picked on. I think it was the time when you used to get milk with a straw for morning break.....WOW that was heavy just thinking about it.

Marco
I remember being around 3 or so... I was riding on my little tricycle, about 50 meters from my parents house. Somehow I managed to drive off the road and fell in a ditch, on top a red ant hill! It was summer and I was just wearing shorts and a tshirt. They were all over me, they were biting and it was all very scary I left my tricycle behind and ran home crying...
