Wez
Hey All, Has anyone tried a 10% methonal mix in tank rather than a 50/50 water/meth injection? I had a chat with someone who does this with his own scooby and has added up to 4 deg more ignition. Anyone tried it on a MKIV?
mikeyb10supra
very interesting wez....I would be interested to hear about this as well. Only problems I can foresee are problems with fuel lines and injectors and if the methanol has any reaction to the materials or seals, although in such a small concentration I cant see why it would
johnny g
I know some lads in the MR2 clubs add Toluene (sp?) to the mixture in-tank and don't see any problems - well, they've not seen them yet!
Alex
Toluene is well known...10% mix. With Methanol are you at risk of destroying the fuel delivery equipment? And wouldn't you need to remap to use it properly?
Thorin
With Methanol are you at risk of destroying the fuel delivery equipment? And wouldn't you need to remap to use it properly? Yeah ageing pump and lines might be a concern but at 10% concentration I would have thought it would be fine? You'd certainly need a remap to take advantage of it but it'd be a bit of a safety crutch to help prevent det if running high boost I guess.
