Patrick_Devlin
I've spent the last half an hour reading up on the previous threads on this subject, and I'm confused... My battery went dead the other day and since replacing it I cannot get the car above 120mph. The limiter has returned. I guess this has something to do with the way it was de-limited it to begin with. I dont think there's any way that I'd be able to do a DIY mod from the wealth of info here on this sight - something to do with having a phobia of seeing my car reduced to its component parts on my drive and having that one elusive screw left over at the end!!! Is there anyone within 50 miles of High Wycombe that could do the job for me? What would it cost? I'm feeling impotent by my supe's lack of speed... Please help!!! Justin
I had mine done through JIC (8 miles South of junc 6 M25) Give them a ring and see what they say. http://www.japanese-car-imports.co.uk/home.htm
Patrick_Devlin
Thanks, I'll give them a shout. I've just had a look at the TRL pages, and they seem pretty good. Not so daunted by the DIY job now. How long would it take do do this job?
Steve W
I'm GUESSING about 2-3 hours....? ? BUT, Peter Betts is just sending mine in the post, I'll be doing just as-soon-as arrives..... I'll let you know how long/hard it is/was. (I'll be fitting the Fuel Cut Controller, and Speedo Convertor/De-limiter both at same time. Steve. [ ps. Mine's still got the 115/120 'BBLLEERRRR' cut at present ]
Rob
Yes mine was about 2-3 hours, lot of soldering, and checking of wire colours "now, is that tangerine with mint stripes, or sunburst with pistachio chevrons???"
Steve W
COLOURS ! ! I thought they'd all have big signposts on.... " This way to Speedo..... " " Turn Left at next join for Speed-Limiter..... " Oh Oh........

The JIC website states that all their cars get delimted "as standard" but in reality all they do is slap a 5/8 signal onto the odometer (unless you ask them otherwise). Disclaimer: Unless they have changed their practises since this time last year. My car's still limited, but if I ever delimit it I'll use a "clamping" type, like Pete Betts sells. Patrick_Devlin
So... the battery died on my car... it wouldnt go above 120... took it in for a standard service and mentioned this... they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it... Anyway, took it for a bit of a spin today and it cruised past 120... no problem!!!! I am confused, but pleased that I dont have to dismantle my car... Thakns for the replies though, I'll keep an eye on it and see if it plays up (dont know why it would though)
Ian C
Brian Duff had some wierdness like that happen to his - random speed limiter intervention. Maybe you two should swap notes? -Ian
