GavinL
All, I was wondering why my car was making a rather loud noise when I picked up my car from the mechanics. Has anyone ever lost the inspection cover of their gearbox?
JustGav
Don't think it has been 'lost' as such, just not put back on. Thread area looks too clean for it to have 'fallen' off.
colsoop
No help to you but judging from your other threads you need a new mechanic
Branners
Hi Gavin, Pig on here 'lost' his as well. Turbofit basically failed to put it back on. Thats not good, combined with the missing shifter nut it makes you wonder how it was put back together. JB
Chris Wilson
I would challenge anyone to notice the noise level difference between one or both covers missing or present. They are only bits of 20 gauge tin, and they have quite big vents in them anyway. Refitting it / them would be unlikely to cure this "noise" IMHO. Looks like I'm investigating something else then
Chris Wilson
What sort of noise is it? I am loathe to ask, describing noises over e-mail is fraught with dangers, and cell phone excerpts never seem much better. I'd wager if I posted a clip of a peafowl calling most people would be into fan belt problems or serious brake issues, IYSWIM Gearbox noise are usually fairly easy to isolate though. GavinL
I haven't driven the car for a long while so it's not fresh in my mind I'm afraid. I'm loathed to drive the car at the moment with the Wideband broken and a number of boost leaks. Thanks anyway Chris What sort of noise is it? JB That's just a small sample of the things found so far. There's also the dead battery, missing battery clamp, missing fittings, missing mats, damaged bumper, parts not returned. The more I look the more I find and too add insult to injury no response to either of my letters from the mechanic concerned
