Hiya, just bought a first decat for my tt, what do i need to do to it? Do i need a restrictor ring, as i plan on keeping my second cat in, cant be bothered to put it back in at MOT time. Also, what is the effect of removing the first cat and keeping the second? I hear the first is the most restrictive??? Is it bad to keep the 2nd cat in place???

I realise these are nubby questions and i have searched, help please!

First is most restrictive so will give greater benefits but not all cars will boost to 1.2 bar with 2nd in.

No major issue with it in, and you wont always need an RR, try it first steadily to make sure its ok. You REALLY don't want to hit fuel cut! Do you have the rest of the BPU parts fitted?

2nd cat is fairly easy to swap in and out, its the first one that's a bugger - who is doing it for you?

No, this is my first adventure in to the car mechanics world, so i thought a firswt decat would be the first way to go for BPU. I'm not exactly made of money at the moment, so perhaps its wise to get a restrictor ring anyway just to stop it hitting fuel cut.

I was planning on doing the work myself :) Failing that I have a few friends at my local Mr T that wouldnt object to doing it for me.

Think this is a reasonable way to start?
