SilverSoop
my 98 car was never that much! Oh its a long story Guigsy and Matlee...i phoned up the DVLA and demanded an explanation as to why im paying this much road tax! Basically, because when my Supe was SVA'd in Japan, my emissions were recorded as 303g/Km and guess what.... Mr Darling and his cronies raise the road tax limit so i have to pay £220.00 for 6 months and £400.00 for a bloody year!!
Guigsy
cant you get it retested/clasified?

My Supe was brought into the country in July '07 and as for my road tax, i paid it earlier today and i literally had to force myself fto hand over the £220.00 to the post office worker! SilverSoop
£220 for 6 months?? Holy mother of something or other... I know! Im totally p***ed off, i tried to get it retracted but the DVLA weren't having any of it... Considering that this car is a 1998 reg, it shouldn't have gone into the new tax class. Tbh, i think im the ONLY owner on here that has!

JamesC
Surely it shouldn't effect any 98 car though. It's only >2001 that should be pulling their pants down.

If its registered after 2001 and the emissions are on the v5 then you have to pay whatever band its in. Most of us are lucky that nothing is in the emissions. Franko
According to news reports the government is going to introduce tax branding even for old cars. Dont think we will get away with it much longer

Dont think we will get away with it much longer I hope they dont either!! I'd punt the bit$h! Out of principle rather than cost - fair enough spending a few g modding your car but not if its just to drive the damn thing!
