The Road Warrior
P Reg, 5 Doors, Manual 5 speed, Hatchback, 1.3 Petrol, Metallic Silver, ABS, Power steering, Electric Windows/Sunroof, Service History, Radio/Cassette, 7 months MOT remaining, approx 100k miles The car was unfortunately written off recently due to minor front end damage (dent in near side wing&bumper/indicator light), headlamp & bonnet undamaged. Other than the bodywork the car is mechanically sound & has been very reliable. Drives perfect, would make an ideal first car or runaround. £295 ono
Swampy442
So is it still classed as written off or has it been repaired?
The Road Warrior
It's not been repaired as it's not worth it (just been gaffer taped up ) unless you have a contact that could do it cheap. Would probably need a new bumper/indicator light & possibly new wing if it can't be repaired. Will post pics of the damage asap.
RobSheffield
So is it Cat D?
The Road Warrior
Think the insurance company said it was a Cat C which is suprising since it's a minor knock, but will find out for sure. As you can see the rest of the car is reasonably tidy, will post up pics of damage tonight.
RobSheffield
I would check that if i was you, Cat C is fairly bad! Must have VIC when repaired IIRC
The Road Warrior
Confirmed with the insurance company that it is a Cat C, due to the cost of repair compared to what the car's worth now. More pics of the dream machine...
The Road Warrior
Anyone know if I'll need to get a VIC (Vehicle Identity Check) or any other such checks on this car before selling it since it's been written off and not repaired? Cheers
tooquicktostop
Anyone know if I'll need to get a VIC (Vehicle Identity Check) or any other such checks on this car before selling it since it's been written off and not repaired? Cheers A - Not for resale. Fire damaged (burnt-out), flood damaged (contaminated or salt water), severely damaged with no serviceable parts, or heavily stripped (shell). Notification of Destruction required. (To be crushed). Recorded at DVLA & HPI. B - Not for resale. Damaged beyond economical repair and/or severe structural damage. Notification of Destruction required. (Parts can be removed and sold). Recorded at DVLA & HPI. C - Repairable salvage. Generally applies to older vehicles. Can be sold for repair but must now have VIC inspection. Recorded at DVLA & HPI. D - Repairable salvage. Minimal damage sometimes stolen and found after claim has been paid, or cost of repair combined with difficulty obtaining new parts to enable a swift repair. Recorded with HPI. X - Repairable salvage. Not recorded on any registers such as HPI. Limited or very light damage, or vehicle is new or less than 12 months old. Usually requires minimal repair work. NOT Recorded with HPI.

Cheers http://www.carsalvagefinder.co.uk/vehicle_VIC.php One of these places will help you with a VIC document, it is a lot more detailed that an MOT, at your cars price tag it may be worth selling off in parts, you will get more in the long run rather that paying to get it back on the road IMO
