light brown exhaust side wheel (on GT4088 turbo)

I've just removed my GT4088 to replace it with a T67

I had it off some weeks ago, and it had the "correct black color" from exhaust gasses.

However, take a look at this:

as you can see the wheel is light brown, and so it the inside of the manifold. aditionnally to the brown color, it had some moist on it, seemd to be water. very little but it was there.

I've pulled a sparkplug out to check it, but it looked fine:

But there's more to the mistery:

Yesterday when I drove the car, the boost varied from 1.2 bar(what it should be) and all the way up to 1.6 bar, sometimes only 1.4 bar. Also it seemd to come awfully late on full boost (5k rpm+)

Air/fuel all looked nomal though

whats wrong here!? :search:

Looks like rust or the start of it? may be due to to the vent to atmo breather system, have you been using it much?

it's been sitting in the garage from june 8th till end of june, then i've driven small 1 hour splashes, but then I drove it for 3 full hours yesterday

with the gt4088. it's been running fine with the wheel in that condition for more than a month, when it boost 1.4 bar it stays there, likewise with 1.6. it's not jumping up and down once on-boost

You know when a turbo wheels gets like that it's completely unbalanced, so when it spins up it'll oscillate and oval out the turbo seal, letting oil out into the exhaust. Your oil temps will go up, the level will drop due to it being burnt, and it'll get contaminated as well. So driving with a fubar turbo like that isn't a good idea for the longevity of the engine itself...
