See, Im sure the Earth rotates around me
I'm pretty certain that French people think the Sun revolves around them too.

not to be a smart ass but; technically the sun does orbit the earth.

You're right - you're not a smart ass. :)

So are you French then?

I beleive a better title would of been 'fit lass has sh1t for brains dad'

I missed the bit where it said she was his daughter. She could have been in the relationship cos he said he was a successful lawyer. That would make him single after they got off air :D

i like french women... does that make me a numskull :( ?

Nope, they can be tres chaud!

Keep up the see-food diet and I'm sure it might do one day ;):p

the sun doesnt orbit anything. its the gravitational fields that forces other planets to orbit the sun. if the sun disappeared earth along with all the other planets would come to a stand still.

LOL if the sun would disappear, wouldn't the planets just fly off in the direction they were going?

ho ho ho, you please yourselves so easily - good job too - just a shame it reveals people as a bit thick at the same time.

it's pretty basic physics and even more basic geometry. if the earth is the centre point the sun rotates round the earth. (every day too.) it is just a matter of perspective.

similarly the earth goes round the moon, just as the moon goes around the earth. now laugh away.

 bored now, so my last post on the subject. and as you don't get it i'll let someone else have a go.

Einstein "What time does the next station arrive at this train?"

now you can go back to rolling around on the floor etc.

Yeah, I get the whole relativity thing and that it depends on your perspective, but if you were to look at the Milky Way as a whole, you'd see the Moon goes round the Earth, the Earth round the Sun and the whole caboodle takes a few millions years to go round the centre of the galaxy!

Also, NASA launch their shuttles to the East, as that provides them with an extra 200m/s or so of velocity due to the Earth's spin - I'm not sure the Sun would provide that velocity from 93 million miles away if it was going round the Earth every 24 hours :)

Thats not true, the question specifically mentions what rotates the earth. There is only one natural major astral object which orbits the earth and that is the moon.

Even with the perspective on the earth, the sun still does not rotate the earth, it only appears to.

Perhaps it would have been better to use the word 'orbit' instead of rotate :D

It was a difficult question. Especially under the high pressure circumstances of a television broadcast, and one poor man in the hotseat.

The translation is poor, it should have been "what gravitates around the earth", this is a lot harder to answer than "what rotates around the earth".
