JamieP
Anyone know what the difference is if any?, garret T04z Works out about £500 cheaper but if its inferior ill go with the hks kit.
Chris Wilson
The HKS one has anti reversion holes in the inducer for the compressor wheel. Personally I'd get the Garrett one, at least spares are here in the UK, and you can play with housing sizes without finding HKS have had something odd made to stop you sourcing genuine Garrett bits that'll fit. bolarbag
The HKS one has anti reversion holes in the inducer for the compressor wheel. Isn't that just an option? Can't you get the Garret version with the anti-surge housing too? I've heard it affects spool so why you'd want to it is another matter:search:
JamieP
Im going to look into the .AR now, i want the smallest one they do, .68 would be good im thinking.
JamieP
Next question would you go for a divided or non divided housing?
Wez
Next question would you go for a divided or non divided housing? Depends on the manifold. My PHR Stage 1 has a divided housing but the cast manifolds are not.
lockys96
divided if your manifold is twinscroll, so i hear.............. i think you can get the garrett housing machined anyway for anti surge
JamieP
Depends on the manifold. My PHR Stage 1 has a divided housing but the cast manifolds are not. Hks manifold. Wez
My PHR Stage 1 has a .70 divided housing EDIT: this may be a little small for a turbo that big, might choke up top.
JamieP
Its a toss up between this kit (with a garret T-04z) and one of the smaller boostlogic kits, similar price but with looking at the pics Nic sent me the hks kit looks to have a plumbed in wastegate which is a bonus. Alex
Divided = larger A/R due to area lost by having the division. Go with whatever the manifold is...and get the smallest in that option.
JamieP
The hks manifold is divided so i guess if i was to go with this kit (garrett turbo) the .70 would be best. Out of interest the guys running the T67 .68 was that divided or non, Homer/Gaz/IanC?
Alex
.68 is UN-Divided.
JamieP
Thats making me think that a .70 divided will be to small, my 4088 was a undivided .81 and i loved that but dont want another as they seem weak.
Alex
Indeed I would go for the .84 or the 1.00 if it was me. Any smaller would be more likely to suite a diesel! :o

Garrett make the HKS T-04Z turbos, from what I can tell the specs are exactly the same as the Garrett T-04Z. The Garrett T-04Z is also available with an anti-surge housing. JamieP
Can you confirm that the wastegate is plumbed back in the downpipe as the pic of the kit you sent me please Nic?
Nic
Can you confirm that the wastegate is plumbed back in the downpipe as the pic of the kit you sent me please Nic? Yes all the HKS kits plumb the wastegate back into the down pipe, in fact I don't know of any Japanese branded kits that don't. Here is a pic of the HKS T-04Z kit (not all parts shown). http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/421/11003at001jza80t04zturbtl2.jpg

Nic
Thanks, i will make a decision in the next few days also can you let me know my options on drop in injectors around 800's. Power Enterprise 800cc injectors (Side Feed/High Impedance) would be my choice, as they are a straight swap for the stock J-spec injectors.
