MOT Emissions Test

Hi all.

My girlfriend had her Peugeot 106 MOT'd last weekend, it failed on the offside hand brake efficiency and the emissions. I have sorted the hand brake out but would like to know about the actual emissions test.

The engine speed measurement was by-passed as was the engine oil temperature. Fast idle test failed on CO level and Lambda, passed on HC.

Second fast idle test had the same results. Both the CO and Lambda levels were'nt that far out. Natural idle test passed.

Going back to my mechanical days when we did emissions tests we had to measure the engine speed also the oil temp. Im sure the hotter the engine then the better the cat would work and the levels would come down! Can anyone advise me on this. The car had a very bad miss fire on idle so am thinking this must of contributed to the fail? Have since fixed the problem, it runs sweet now! Any thoughts welcome.;)
