MarkR
I'm off to the garage tomorrow with Ryan to get on top of my mapping. They've had a few issues wiring up the Solaris and getting it turned over, but I'm sure Ryan can work some magic tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get her back tomorrow but if not, then I guess it'll be a few more weeks Fingers crossed!

MarkR
Well today was one nightmare after another!! FFS! The VVTI throttle body with the drive by wire has a motor that goes into a failsafe mode when the std ECU is not connected. This presented half a day of trying to find a work around. Non-vvti throttle bodies don't fit as they have different mounting holes. We eventually rotated the pedal position side of the throttle body that connects to the throttle cable by 45 degrees to get around the failsafe position and restore control. We also couldn't connect the pedal position sensor, as the std FPR was getting in the way but seeing as we don't use it that's no big deal. Then the nipple on the Map Sensor broke off, the spare was broken and there were no other spares to be found. We eventually glued the nipple back on to try get up and running. Ryan will bring a new one when he sees me next. We got the car started and popped it on the dyno in the late afternoon, when we realised that the alternator wasn't charging the battery. Not sure what's wrong there yet. We took a few measurements but we're speculating that the alternator was damaged when the pulleys were changed. We're only getting 11v when the car is running at the battery. We also discovered that the bonnet won't close which turned out to be the BOV, which we re-angled. It still wouldn't close, as the breather kit from Whifbitz has a k&n airfilter on top that also got in the way. That'll need to be modified..... That was basically the whole day. A big thanks to Ryan and Wayne for getting through today Ryan popped a basic map on to get the car running, so that we can sort the other issues and test drive it off boost until we can get him back to map it again. T2 MSW
Sorry to hear you troubles. It will be all be worth it when you feel the kick from that turbo The K&N filter on the whifbitz oil cooler is close but does not prevent the bonnet closing, where have you got it mounted?? MarkR
Doesn't sound that good Mark. When is the next day planned with Ryan? I have no idea.. I need to get all the issues sorted before I even think of booking him as I hate wasting his and my time. As I'm a contractor, no work = no pay, so today cost me big time. MarkR
I forgot to mention that the loom Jody whipped up for me from the gearbox doesn't fix the speedo issue I had when I went manual, so no speedo either.
JamieP
Sorry to hear that Mark, nothing major by the sounds of it so all will be on track soon. I have the same kit, although I dont have the bonnet fire proof cover. Yup, no chance of it fitting with the heat proof in place, mine touches the bonnet. I have that cursed do-luck bonnet. I have a feeling it's thicker in that spot where the k&n filter goes. I'll most likely have to blnk the top hole and weld on a side mount for the filter. I'm just uploading pics and videos, so you'll see what I mean.... That bonnet has forced me to move the BOV position, sell the TRD strut brace and now the oil catch issue, plus it's heavier. I don't know why I mess with Toyota's standard bits.
