MizTheWiz
OK on my LCD TV there is a socket at the rear like the one on the rear of my computer monitor with PC printed above it. How can i run my computer on LCD TV and monitor at the same time when the graphics card i have only has one plug for output. there is also video out and s.video on it but i would like to have it running through the proper plug as alot better quality. lol hope that makes sense..... MizTheWiz
You can get a spliter cable like this one If i use this method will i be able to set the settings for both the monitor and tv. ie resolution, screen size etc. or will it just copy my monitor settings and chuck that on my tv. SBDJ
If i use this method will i be able to set the settings for both the monitor and tv. ie resolution, screen size etc. or will it just copy my monitor settings and chuck that on my tv. Same settings for both, and splitter cables aren't usually ideal anyway. A multimonitor graphics card is definately the better way of doing this as it will give you the flexibility to span the screens (including at different resolutions) or clone the screen. Pixelfill
You'll probably find that the resolution of the television input isn't as high as your monitor. Even my HDTV Sony Bravia 1080P will only take 1024x768 through the HD15 VGA connector I Can however connect at full 1920x1080 using DVI to HDMI The upshot of this is; check what resolution the TV VGA connector can receive, if you only have one VGA output from your PC then you'll be limited to using whichever resolution is matched to both your TV and monitor. for connection I'd recommend a Video Amp over a cable splitter every day. JustGav
DVI to HDMI is better due to the fact that signal remains in the digital domain, VGA is an analogue signal and as such would suffer degradation and signal jitter.
