michael
The government should put stuff like on TV to prevent drink driving, not crappy adverts where people crash tables **************************************** As some of you may be aware from reading posts on Passionford a Bristol RS owner & Pf user Curtis Piper (masterp) was struck down by a drink driver on his way home from a valentines dinner with his girlfriend! Guest Geo5
That is really sad - i've got a daughter and if anything ever happened to me or her dad she would be the one who would suffer most. I really think drink drivers are the most stupid , selfish w**kers. That poor little girl.
Green Peace
Yep does make you think....very sad init.... Alchohol + Cars = stories like the above...lets be honest how many of us HAVE actually driven whilst thinking 'I must be near the limit' or not having much to eat having couple glasses of wine and thinking 'God I feel bit pissed but must surely be ok to drive coz only had one or two units max' The other thing is I actually know of people who blatently drive over the limit now and again...userly because they think...well ...not that far from home may as well risk it... TBH I think drink Driving is on the increase...and I dont think the Police are tough enough on it....Everytime I used to get pulled up they used to say 'Have You had a drink tonight Sir?' but I havent heard that line for a very long time now! My heart goes out to the persons Daughter and family... Si
kghelmet
having seen a friends family after he died on a motor bike after some scum took him off and having a daughter of my own i can understand some of the pain his family is going through. you have to wonder when the law of the land is going to change. if the drunk driver gets to court what will happen to him.a year in prison tops.now if we go down and try and rob the post office we get 10 years plus. i don`t drink let alone drink and drive and there is no excuse for it.it just shows with drink people forget the true cost of there actions when for the cost of a taxi home it could save so much pain.in this case a little girl that will never know her father. RobAndrews
just thought I'd add that this happened just round the corner from me. If I remember correctly the local reports say he was speeding before this and hit cars just moments earlier. would be nice if speed camera's were put up along this road instead of on the ring roads/bypasses, it may have made a difference. RobSheffield
i can absolutely honestly say i never ever drive after even a sip of alcohol. i dont drive if im drinking and i dont drink if im driving. its just something i decided years ago. i had been taken to hospital on a friday night after some fool drove into the side of my parked car and gashed my eye. i hadnt been drinking, i had lemonade all night. when i arrived at the hospital with the police (i had been injured in an RTA so they had to attend) i was brought into A & E and saw a young lady brought in from the ambulance on a stretcher (is that what they are called?) she looked very obviously in a bad way. shortly after a young lad was brought in and he was shrieking and screaming. i asked the 2 officers what had happened, as we had to wait for A & E to clear, and they told me that the lad had been driving his Fiesta through town tryin to impress the ladies after a few drinks at his local, and had hit the girl at about 50MPH (on a street with a 30 limit) and he was screaming through grief and guilt. i found out in the local papers that unfortunately she died. as a result the road now has speed bumps and chicanes.
