Guest cashie2000
hi im getting a widearch kit for my supra. it is 77mm wider each sied. i dont really know what width and offset wheels i need. im after 18s but could anyone suggest the width/offset that i need. i dont want to go to wide with the wheels i would rather just get a really low offset with spacers so tyres are still cheap.. can anyone help? Chris Wilson
I read this as "how many wheel combinations are there to *&%@ up my car on the cheap?" Don't do it, for God's sake!
JustGav
Have a capital letter or two, and some more punctuation. And the above advise is the best advice you will get.
Guigsy
just use spacers....
Thorin
Buy the wheels you want... then please sell the Supra and buy a car they'll actually fit properly on.

AndyT
You wouldn't get advice on building a death trap. Handling on these cars can be hectic to say the least.
Nic
actually im a girl!!! come on here to get some advise and now i realise why i never use this forum.but anyway thanks!!!!! This website will help you work out the widths and offsets required, the stock wheels are 17"x8" +50 Offset Front & 17"x9.5" +50 rear, you can put these sizes in and work out what width and offset you will need to fill the wide body kit. http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp Disclaimer: Sorry I have to agree with the comments above, but hopefully this will help. The term advice suggests that you are open to comments and suggestions, rather than 'getting the answers that I like' but since that doesn't appear to be the case.. I wish you well, EDIT : Can this be moved out of tech please. Edited June 28, 2008 by JustGav (see edit history)
Scott
dont see how im building a death trap but anyway. ill go somewhere else for advise thanks Your suspension has been set up with your wheels at a certain offset. Your bearings have been designed to work at optimum levels with this offset. If you change the width of the tyres there isn't much of a problem as long as the offset is the same, the big problem is when you change the offset. Because you are going wider you are assuming using spacers or using a bigger offset will be fine. It will look fine but the bearings won't like it and the handling will suffer greately. The correct way to do it is to buy wheels that have the same offset but that are much wider. The trouble is that they are very expensive and the tyres are also very expensive. Basically you have 3 options, ignore the dangers and "build a death trap", do it properly and take the hit to buy the correct wheels and tyres or just leave the car as it is. I would suggest if you don't want to spend money that you just leave the car as it is. Depending how much you bodge it you could potentially go through wheel bearings like smarties. Another massive no-no on these cars is to have wider, or the same size tyres as the rear, on the front.
