All companies state that, it depends if they activily review the data.

No the more cynical out there might say that they will let you get away with it, then when they want to let you go use it against you.. . but that's just crazy.

So its ok to go on other website's whilst at work??

Well I would say that if the company like mine says 'Only for business use' then no. Luckly they seem to be sane, or maybe too large to car about a little (little my A&^%) personal browsing.

But at Natwest they had a clamp down and came round with print outs of our activities...

Was interesting for the shift joker who's main role was to try and get round the web censoring and find pictures of women's privates.

I am eagerly awaiting the day you learn to use the multi-quote button you post whore :D

Yeh thats my fault if i get caught but i meant could i get into trouble for being on any website other than the Audi one??

I have no idea what Audis policy is... it should be written in your Ts & Cs. That would be a good place to start.

You take your car to a garage, the mechanic spends 6 hours on mkivsupra.net, 2 hours fixing your car and charges you 8 hours labour.

Would you be upset with the latter? I Wouldn't and i doubt your bosses would. We have t'internet in the work and its monitored. We are allowed to use it for personal use but we have to be sensible. A few guys have went through disciplinary action for overusing it.

You're damn right I would.

I'm not paying for some lazy ar$e mechanic to browse the internet. He can do that in his own time or let his boss carry the cost. :p

:iagree:

i only want to pay for what i owe too.

as for whether it is wrong to use internet for personal stuff when at work; it is not illegal if that's the question. it may be a breach of your contract of employment which would mean discipline->sacking. most bosses are ok to a point, the point being as long as it does not interfere with your output. many bosses ban from a set list such as ebay/msn messenger etc. but to be safe run it by the manager. remember bigger company computers can be and will be monitored so no dodgy/banks/personal info sites.

answer to all this is: be self-employed! the boss lets you away with all kinds of s#!t.
