Digsy
For my girlfriend's Rover. She needs four new 185/55R15 82V boots. Pirelli P6000 or Firestones F700 (she has been given good quotes on both but I have no experience of Firestones). ...or any other make / model recommendations for general purpose use. She wants something a bit sticky because she has a heavy right foot, but not so soft that they tear up within 6000 miles. She needs them in a hurry and will get them from a local source. She just needs to know what to get. Back when I had normal-sized wheels I just used to get whatever was cheapest! TIA.
SkyJawa
Go for 195 50 15 instead - they are much cheaper as a more widespread fitting. I should have 185 55 15 on my 205 GTi, I run the 195 50 15's almost the same rolling diameter and my speedo is still spot on. Toyos or Eagle F1's around 30-40 quid in that size...... JustGav
Yeah...definitely 195's.... and I've used P6000's on my 106 rallye 1.6... and it made the damn thing STICK to the road...absolutely crack on.... Currently using F1's GS03 on my supra... (admittedly today is the last day of using them, going to Mich Pilot Sports tonight...*waits for DB to comment on tyre usage*) Gav
JustGav
Also I had some firestones on the 106...don't know which when I bought it...and she hated them...used to slide all over the place during hard driving... spun it at least three times before I got rid of them..... Digsy
Thanks guys. She's gone for the Pirellis at £46 a corner fitted and balanced (and she thinks I'm great for giving her the advice ) Only kidding - I namechecked you all. JustGav
The only thing I will say about my choice of tyres.... the P6000's are a soft compound which do mean they grip.... but they are soft and will wear out quicker than most
Digsy
All info passed on... Would she have to notify her insurance if she wasn't fitting the standard sized tyres?

Digsy
Nope! Is that 100% gospel or a personal opinion? I would have thought that they might kick up a fuss if she had to have the assessor round and they spotted it.
