RobSheffield
Today myself and Steve (Smarty on here) were lucky enough to be given a tour through the Force India F1 garages and wind tunnel. Brilliant experience, thanks Tony! Some quick pics below. Unfortunately though on the way back to Steves we were about 3rd on scene of an RTA. An MX5 had come from a small by-road and cartwheeled down the embankment to land upside down on the A43. The driver was thrown clear. Steve and I checked the car, fuel was leaking from it so we advised other people to remain clear, then we helped to direct traffic until the police arrived. While waiting for the Police to return and interview us and after the injured man had gone in the air ambulance i took a couple of pics. Hope the chap pulls through. Steve
Thanks Tony for showing us round, was nice to meet you:) The accident was very nasty. Seeing how far the car had jumped (approx 20-30 foot) through the air and down the embankment wasnt good. At first thought it was a sheet from a lorry that had blown off, but soon realised it was this MX5 Hope the guy is ok.
TLicense
It was good to see you both, and I hope you enjoyed the brief tour. Am glad that you didn't get involved in the actual incident on your way home. Had something similar happen about a month ago or so. Certainly sets your pulse racing! Hope that the driver is OK. Pot
I'm guessing the issue with Mr E Jordan blocking off their road's sorted now? Bloody hell on that crash too, but good work on stopping and helping out, sounds like you did all the right things and kept your head cool... RobSheffield
Didnt really do much, and it was a bit scary but equally we didnt just stay sat in the car like a lot of other people that stopped around us
AndyT
Looks a great visit lads. Nice pics too, F1 pics that is. Well done for stopping and helping to. If more people showed that kind of concern and respect this place would be a better place to live.

juanchan
Good work on the RTA guys, and the tour sounds like a brilliant experience. I'd ask for some pics of the wind tunnel, but I assume that's not allowed
RobSheffield
It might have been allowed, but both Steve and i forgot! The technicians were running some maintenance programs so there wasnt much to see but interesting all the same.
bromy
I love clinically clean engineering shops like this, only wish the lads at our place were the same:( Tony is the machining done on the same site? would like to see this.
TLicense
We do have machining capability on site, but to be honest it's more for jobbing and "prototype" than general production runs. The majority of our production machining is done in Germany. At the wind-tunnel we've got a small jobbing shop but we've recently been given a new bridgeport cnc which will massively increase our capability. Especially for homework jobs!
