Hi all,

As some of you know I recently aquired a 1999 VVTI TT 6 speed supra in quicksilver and last weekend I started work on "project quicksilver".

The plan is to build a useable 600bhp single turbo "street" supra.

I have aquired quite a few parts already and the project started slowly last weekend.

All the work on my car will be done by myself and Ashbhp.

The spec list is as follows: -

Engine/transmission/exhaust

Stock 2JZGTE VVTI block

Cams - TBC

HKS T51 Kai bb turbo kit

HKS SSQV dump valve

VirtualWorks / full-race intake plenum

Standard 6 speed getrag box

Centerforce dual friction clutch

Boost Logic 4” exhaust

Wheels/Tires/Brakes

Stop-tech Front 4 piston brake kit with 355mm discs

Brembo Rear 4piston brake kit with 13.5" discs

18” Volk TE37’s in black wrapped in Toyo T1-R’s

Cooling

HKS R-type FMIC kit

Mocal 19 row oil cooler

Fluidyne Rad

Fuelling

Twin walbro/denso fuel pumps

Virtualworks fuel rail

Delphi 96lb injectors

Aeromotive FPR

Suspension

HKS Hypermax III suspension

Cusco front carbon strut brace

Cusco rear carbon strut brace

Electronics

ECU – TBC but will be used to control boost

Defi Boost & EGT gauges

AEM AFR gauge

Exterior

Bone stock

I will update this thread on a monthly basis with pics as the project unfolds :)

Nick.

Nice one

Its like a disease with you isnt it :p

lol it sure is Rob, an expensive disease I wonder if I'll loose yet another girlfriend due to the car :)

Good luck Nick

Sounds like a great project.

Thanks Edd!

sounds great Nick:)

May pop in for a look if you want, working in Blaby at the moment.

I'll give you a shout bud:cool:

Hey Rich, long time no see! I'm only a few miles from blaby mate so give me a shout and we'll have a beer or two ;)

Looks like a nice project. You haven't mentioned internals on the list... will you be using a stock bottom end? What boost will you want to run?

Stock bottom to start with Gaz the car has only covered 50k miles so should be ok for a while. bost wise I should think 1.4-1.5 bar.

If you are going to see circa 600bhp at least get some arp's in the bottom end.......you'll be rebuilding sooner than you think if you don't

John

Thanks for the advice. I intend to stay stock to begin with though.

Oh, you mean with your current car? You have the same turbo, wheels and brakes, is that it? (I dunno your spec these days)

Thats right Jake :)

Oh and the same strut braces

To be fair, it was a fairly crap list of similarities!

EDIT - not the same turbo - in fact i seem to be heading for a 'fail' pic :(

Very nice setup, I would like that very much,

Kopite has started to struggle with the VVTI top end and is planning on swapping it for a non-VVTi one, thoughts?

I've looked into this as the gear ratios of the V161 are shorter than the V160 IIRC at 190mph in 6th you're at 6532rpm with the V161 and and at 6333rpm with the V160 so there is quite a difference but I don't think it will hold the car back in anyway.

Also I believe due to the cam variator the VVTI engine reduces lag slightly against the none VVTI when using a big turbo so it would be a good mix with the HKS T51.

I guess time will tell :)
