Hoppy
Hi Chaps After reseting my ECU and driving for a while i perfomed a diagnostic fault code check and my ECU has stored the following codes:- 1.Fault code 34 2.Fault code 42 I have done a bit of searching on here and discovered that CODE 42 is No1 speed signal but can't seem to find much info on CODE 34?? (Regarding code 42) My Supra is a 94 J-spec T/T which was converted to MPH by the import company i bought it from. They used a cheap + nasty converter which was never accurate to begin with.So i completely removed the cheapy converter and returned all the wiring back to factory setup, and then i simply fitted a new UK spec speedometer which i read on this forum would work just fine. My speedometer is now reading accurate but i am unsure if using a UK speedo with a jap ECU is causing the problem or if the problem is elsewhere???? Please help somebody??? Smoke_U
Hi! How is it going with your Supra? Im from SWE. (J-spec -97 TT) I have that same problem. I removed my konverter and coneckted back to original km/h. It wourked fine from the first time, but when i pass 140 km/h the enigine light and big red triangle turns on. Oh..and the O/D flashes when its engaged. The car runs perfect even with these lights on and has done so for a long time. I had it maped and checked but the mechanic kouldn´t cure the problem. They thought it had to do with the ECU. The mechanic thought it turned on when the car passes the speed limit (180km), but thats not tru. It comes on much erlyer. "as if the ECU doesn´t know what speed its at after the speedlimiter cuts in (car is delimited!)", since iv been fideling with the cables. Let me know if you solved the problem. monkey3
As far as error 42 goes, most people have found this to be dry solder in the speed buffer (or something along those lines) See http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=143215 or http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=135739 or http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=72588 if you fancy a long read
